“Alfred Dixon Runs” for Office, For His School, for his Degree

Monday, August 7th, 2023

Alfred Dixon is a skilled, medal-winning track star for the Clayton State Lakers, primarily in the long jump.

At the same time, he is also currently serving his second term in office as a local councilman for the city of Jonesboro, Georgia

He’s also 35 years old and, for free time, maybe gets four hours of sleep a night in his car after studying and doing his homework.

After first coming to Clayton State University back in 2005 (and running track back then, as well), Dixon left the university to grow his now-discontinued small business before finding a passion for community service and being first voted into office as a Jonesboro city councilman in 2016.

In 2019, following a failed run for city mayor, Dixon returned to campus is Morrow to finish his education and now has only one semester left before finally earning his degree and walking in his cap and gown at the end of the fall 2023 semester.

Dixon’s story is one of perseverance, community, and always striving to better oneself – all values beheld strongly by Clayton State University faculty, staff, and students.

He is willing to be interviewed by local media to discuss his still-developing story before his final semester begins at Clayton State on Sunday, August 12.

Further details on how to reach Dixon can be found below.
