Here are the Companies Discussing AI the Most

New research has uncovered the top 10 companies that are discussing artificial intelligence the most in the context of sales, with Broadcom taking the top spot. 

Experts at DealHub reached this conclusion after analyzing the two most recently available transcripts of earning calls taken from more than 200 top companies. 

The study examined the number of times an AI-related phrase, such as “artificial intelligence”, “generative AI”, or “ChatGPT”, was mentioned in the ten sentences before or after a sales-related phrase, like “revenue”, “earnings”, or “quote-to-cash”.  

This number was calculated as a rate per 100,000 words to assign each company an AI-Sales Index Score, revealing which businesses are most frequently discussing artificial intelligence and sales in close proximity.

Placing top of the list is Broadcom, whose earning calls transcripts contained 223.8 instances of AI- and sales-related phrases in proximity per every 100,000 words. This ratio was the highest out of all companies that were measured, giving it the highest AI-Sales Index Score of 223.8. Broadcom, a key supplier of chips for Ethernet switches, released a new chip in April this year – the Jericho3-AI – which wires supercomputers together for AI work. 

In second place is Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) - its earning calls had an AI-Sales Index Score of 190.2 because, for every 100,000 words, there was an AI-related phrase within ten sentences before or after a sales-related phrase on 190.2 occasions. AMD, which specializes in manufacturing semiconductor devices used in computer processing, recently announced its plan to launch a new AI chip later this year, the MI300.  

Taking the third spot is NVIDIA, with the analysis showing that for every 100,000 words in its earnings call transcripts, there were 160.8 AI-related phrases within ten sentences on either side of a sales-related phrase, giving it the third highest AI-Sales Index Score in the ranking. NVIDIA has been no stranger to AI, having created chips over the past decade that can perform AI tasks such as facial recognition. Some of NVIDIA’s competitors include AMD and Broadcom. 

Thomson Reuters holds the fourth position with an AI-Sales Index Score of 159.3. By incorporating AI applications, including machine learning, the company ensures the provision of reliable data across the news, media, tax, accounting, and legal sectors. This use of AI significantly enhances the company's operational efficiency. 

Intuit takes the fifth spot in the ranking, with an AI-Sales Index Score of 153.8, meaning that there was a rate of 153.8 instances where AI-related phrases were in close proximity to sales-related phrases per 100,000 words. The global technology platform helps to simplify finances for businesses and has used AI to do so. More recently, the company launched a generative AI-powered financial assistance to provide personalized recommendations to users. 

Sixth on the list is Salesforce, as it received an AI-Sales Index Score of 128.2. Salesforce, a customer relationship management software, uses AI to aid more efficient work by automating repetitive tasks, providing insights into customer behavior, and improving customer experience with personalized support. 

Alphabet, Google’s parent company, is in seventh place, with an AI-Sales Index Score of 118.6. Alphabet uses AI across an abundance of services, one example being Google Cloud’s increased security and threat detection. The use of AI can describe threats, predict patterns to detect if users have been targeted, and offer the next steps to take.  

Next on the list is S&P Global, in eighth place, receiving an AI-Sales Index Score of 118.6. The provider of financial intelligence solutions has implemented AI into their platform, S&P Global Market Intelligence, with a workflow tool that allows users to search and discover relevant insights through millions of documents quickly to improve efficiency.  

Following closely behind in ninth place is NetEase, having produced an AI-Sales Index Score of 107.4. The internet technology company, which develops games, advertising services, and much more, has recently revealed plans to use AI in its next game, where non-playable characters (NPCs) will react based on what the player types or says by analyzing text and audio. 

In tenth place with an AI-Sales Index Score of 103.3 is Adobe. Adobe Firefly, which allows the user to give a prompt for an AI-generated image, has just been released for commercial use on several of the Creative Cloud apps after being in beta testing for several months 

The sectors discussing AI the most 

The study further examined each company’s industries, revealing that conversations surrounding AI are most prevalent in the computer and technology sector. This sector has an AI-Sales Index Score of 43.6 overall. 

The business services sector took second place with an AI-Sales Index Score of 39.3, while the industrial sector earned third position, registering an AI-Sales Index Score of 19.2. 

Securing the fourth position is the industrial products sector, which boasts an AI-Sales Index Score of 13.8, followed by consumer staples in fifth place, with a score of 8.6.  

The tech giant HubSpot recently unveiled a suite of new AI-powered capabilities known as HubSpot AI, along with a new Sales Hub. "We are experiencing a transformative shift with generative AI. Based on HubSpot’s 2023 State of AI Report, 85% of sales representatives leveraging AI say it makes their prospecting efforts more effective, gives them more time to sell (79%), and helps build rapport faster (72%).
