Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger’s Securities Division partnered with Funding The Future, a nonprofit organization focused on promoting financial literacy in schools. Funding the Future, featuring musician Carter Hulsey, visited 7 schools from October 23 through November 3 with a total of 9 shows. This financial literacy-focused live event reached more than 3,700 students across Georgia.

“These students now have a leg-up in managing their financial future,” said Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger. "We hope to bring these skills to more Georgians as our partnership grows.”

The Securities Division has a shared vision with “Funding the Future” to educate students on the importance of smart financial decisions. The students learned about financial literacy with a live performance by Carter Hulsey, coupled with valuable life lessons on personal finance, giving students the knowledge and confidence to make their own dreams a reality. Students were given free financial literacy booklets provided by the Securities Division called the Investor & Financial Literacy Guide, Strategies for Investing Wisely & Avoiding Financial Fraud, as well as, Starting Your Financial Future: Making Informed Decisions When Starting Your New Job.

“Our Division is prepared to reach out to more schools, and more students, and reach across Georgia,” said Noula Zaharis, Assistant Commissioner of Securities and Division Director.
