21-Member Health and Human Services Advisory Board to Eye Future
Monday, December 18th, 2023
During the Board of Commissioner meeting on Tuesday, Dec. 12, Commissioners approved the establishment of a 21-member Health and Human Services Advisory Board. This decision aligns with the adoption of the Gwinnett Human Services Five-Year Strategic Plan, a roadmap guiding the county's human services initiatives from 2024 through 2029.
The board is a direct recommendation from the plan and created based on community feedback and data collected during the 12-month Human Services Needs Assessment process.
Once established, the advisory board will play a crucial role in facilitating collaboration among community organizations. Its mandate includes streamlining the process for residents to access assistance, while ensuring a more accessible and efficient system
Simultaneously, the Gwinnett Human Services Five-Year Strategic Plan aims to provide a unified direction for the entire Gwinnett County Human Services network. By establishing a common framework, the plan seeks to prevent redundant efforts and focus on shared goals. The key areas of concentration include sustainable infrastructure and addressing specific needs such as food security, housing, and health and wellbeing.
The decision to introduce the Human Services Strategic Plan is driven by the county's rapid and diverse population growth - a factor that hasn't been assessed since 1991.
The implementation phase of the plan begins in January and the advisory board next February.Top of Form
