Swift Currie Closes 2023 with Addition of Eight Attorneys in Atlanta and Birmingham

Swift, Currie, McGhee & Hiers LLP announces the addition of eight attorneys during the final months of 2023, including seven in Atlanta and one in Birmingham. Joining in Atlanta as a senior attorney is Molly Prodgers King, along with associates Timothy “Tim” Bennett, Sarah Daley, Connely Doizé, Dynisha “Dy” Harris, Emily Johnston, Carly Knight and Caley Pitts. In Birmingham, Richard Whitaker joins as an associate.

Molly Prodgers King represents clients in catastrophic injury and wrongful death cases involving products and premises liability. She has significant experience in all facets of litigation, from pre-suit through appeals, in both state and federal courts. King presents oral arguments, mediations and depositions and has significant appellate experience in state and federal courts. King earned her undergraduate degree from the University of Georgia and her law degree from the University of Georgia Law School.

Timothy “Tim” Bennett focuses his practice on defending employers and insurance companies in workers’ compensation claims throughout the state of Georgia. Prior to joining Swift Currie, he served in positions that gave him first chair-trial experience in criminal and civil litigation settings. Bennett leverages an extensive background in criminal investigations to better assist employers and insurers to effectively investigate accidents and present their arguments to the State Board of Workers' Compensation. He previously worked with prosecutor officers across Georgia to represent victims of domestic violence, as well as prosecuting DUI cases. As a litigator and prosecutor, Bennett has investigated thousands of minor accidents and vehicular homicides. He earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Georgia and his law degree from the Emory University School of Law. 

Sarah Daley focuses her practice on defending businesses and insurers in matters related to bad faith litigation, catastrophic injury and wrongful death, commercial litigation, insurance coverage and products liability. She is experienced in litigating complex matters on behalf of Fortune 500 companies in federal courts across the country.

Prior to joining Swift Currie, Daley served as a law clerk for two federal district court judges, earning experience and perspective on how trial court judges and their staff review and analyze cases and what information the court finds helpful at a given time. She earned her undergraduate degree from the University of Southern Mississippi, graduate degree from the University of Alabama and law degree from the University of Virginia School of Law. 

Connely Doizé focuses her practice on matters pertaining to automobile litigation and premises liability. Prior to joining Swift Currie, she counseled clients on matters related to antitrust issues. Doizé earned her undergraduate degree from Auburn University and his law degree from the University of Georgia School of Law. 

Dynisha “Dy” Harris focuses her practice on matters involving complex litigation pertaining to premises liability, construction law and products liability. She has defended several multi-million-dollar claims, with the highest demand in excess of 80 million dollars. Prior to becoming an attorney, Harris spent three years teaching middle school. She is a member of the Georgia Association of Black Women Attorneys. Harris earned her undergraduate degree from Georgia State University and law degree from the Georgia State University College of Law.  

Emily Johnston focuses on defending clients in matters related to automobile litigation, insurance coverage, commercial litigation,, and premises liability. In advising clients to resolve complex challenges, she is experienced counseling in workers’ compensation matters, compliance and regulations, client/vendor relations, contracts management, data analysis, research and development, case management, strategy development, and reporting. Johnston earned her undergraduate degree from Auburn University and Law Degree from The Ohio State University College of Law.

Carly Knight represents clients in complex litigation matters. Prior to joining Swift Currie, she worked with the Fulton County District Attorney’s Office as a management policy analyst, reconstructing cases from investigation through post-conviction proceedings to evaluate claims of actual innocence and drafting memoranda recommending sentence modifications, reopening cases and further investigatory steps. Knight has also served as an extern with the Dekalb County Law Office of the Public Defender and as a law clerk for the Honorable John T. Simpson in the Coweta Judicial Circuit. Before becoming an attorney, she served as a litigation paralegal with Swift Currie. Knight earned her undergraduate degree from the University of Georgia and law degree from the Georgia State University College of Law.

 

Caley Pitts focuses her practice on defending employers and insurance companies in workers’ compensation claims throughout the state of Georgia. She has dedicated her entire law career to workers’ compensation defense, having settled more than 150 workers’ compensation claims for clients ranging from small, locally-owned businesses to global retail companies. She earned her undergraduate degree from Mercer University and law degree from the University of Georgia’s Law School.

Richard Whitaker brings more than 15 years of experience representing clients in a broad spectrum of matters, wrongful death cases, commercial litigation, dram shop litigation, trucking accidents and employment disputes. Whitaker has tried cases ranging from small disputes in state district court to multi-million-dollar cases in federal court. Whitaker has also handled appeals in state and federal court including presenting oral argument to the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals. He earned his undergraduate degree from Hampden-Sydney College and law degree from the University of Alabama School of Law.
