16th Annual Atlanta Braves All-American Blood Drive – Presented by Delta Air Lines

Staff Report From Georgia CEO

Wednesday, May 15th, 2024

The community is invited to team up with the American Red Cross and the Atlanta Braves at their 16th annual All-American Blood Drive sponsored by Delta Air Lines on June 4-29 at multiple locations. The Braves blood drive started in 2009 and has held the title of the largest single-day Red Cross blood drive in Georgia since its inception. To date, the team has helped the Red Cross collect more than 9,819 pints of blood. In addition to this, the Atlanta Braves, the Red Cross, and Delta Air Lines host monthly blood drives at Truist Park to help collect lifesaving blood.

As summer approaches, the Red Cross encourages eligible donors to give blood and make it a summer full of life for patients in need.

“We typically see a shortfall in blood donations during the summer months, which makes it hard to keep hospital shelves stocked with lifesaving blood products. We need donors to give now to keep the blood supply stable,” said Garrett Reid, Regional Donor Services Executive for the American Red Cross of Georgia. “The Red Cross appreciates the support of those who roll up a sleeve to give year-round. We thank our media sponsors, WSB-TV and 680 The Fan for helping us spread this important message.”

It’s important to remember that red blood cells must be transfused within 42 days of donation and platelets within just five days. So, they must constantly be replenished. Every 2 seconds someone needs lifesaving blood, and the Red Cross depends on the help of donors and blood drive hosts to ensure blood products are readily available for patients during the busy summer months.

All presenting donors will receive a pair of Atlanta Braves tickets, a commemorative T-shirt, a co-branded water bottle, and Atlanta Braves and American Red Cross giveaways, while supplies last!*
