Georgia Aquarium Unveils New WHALE-Y Amazing Arrival
Friday, May 3rd, 2024
May is going to be a whale of a month at Georgia Aquarium as guests can build bricktastic memories from a partnership LEGO® Discovery Center Atlanta. Aquarium guests can spot a giant 3+ft LEGO whale shark built by the attraction’s Master Model Builder, Elizabeth Baker. The entire creation, which took 8,000 LEGO bricks and 45 hours to create, made its arrival to the Aquarium in the same way the real live Whale Shark arrived and will be on display now through May 31.
In addition, Aquarium guests can take part in a special LEGO workshop to learn how to build a LEGO crab from Elizabeth the Master Model Builder on Fridays this May. The classes will be at 10:00am, 11:30 am, and 2:00 pm. Guests can sign-up for this special free class to build the 37 LEGO brick crab build inside the Ocean Voyager gallery where each workshop is taking place during their visit.
“This new partnership with LEGO Discovery Center invites our guests to learn more about aquatic creatures, but also sparks creativity with hands-on building workshops,” said Hiroshi Okuda, senior director of strategic marketing and corporate partnerships at Georgia Aquarium.
“We are thrilled to bring our bricktastic fun to Georgia Aquarium” said LEGO Discovery Center General Manager Jamica Butler. “We can’t wait to build memories with Aquarium guests in this exciting partnership, and wow them with the amazing LEGO whale shark built right here in Atlanta at Merlin Entertainment’s attraction, LEGO Discovery Center.”
