MBA Grads Study: Atlanta 6th Best MSA to Live & Work In

Thursday, May 2nd, 2024

Atlanta stands out as the 6th best metro for MBA students and graduates due to the high yearly number of new business applications, a large share of MBA-related occupations and a high coworking space density.

Investing in an MBA degree not only increases one’s marketability in a competitive global economy, but also develops the critical thinking and problem-solving skills that can define one’s professional success. With this in mind, we analyzed more than 100 metros across the U.S. to determine the best MSAs for MBA grads to start their career. We looked at metrics such as the population with a graduate/professional degree; the number of jobs available and the unemployment rate for the population with a bachelor’s or higher; and more.

Here are a few highlights from our findings:

  • Atlanta-Sandy Springs-Alpharetta has the 2nd highest number of new business applications – 3,134 applications per 100k residents, behind only Miami with 4,092.

  • The area ranks 5th for its high share of jobs for MBA graduates out of the total number of jobs – 9.4%.

  • At the same time, the Atlanta MSA ranks 8th nationwide for its coworking space density – 3.2 spaces per 100k residents.

  • 16.4% of the population 25+ has a graduate degree and median salaries among MBA graduates in this metro stand at $102,415.

  • Another Georgia MSA to make our top was Augusta, which ranked 64th nationwide.

  • Nationally, more than half of the top 10 metros for MBA graduates are located in the country’s South.
