Junior League of Atlanta Announces 2024-25 Board and New President Chelsea Ulrich Tarnoff
Thursday, June 27th, 2024
The Junior League of Atlanta, Inc. (JLA) <https://www.jlatlanta.org/> proudly announces its new President, Chelsea Ulrich Tarnoff, and Board of Directors for the 2024-2025 league year. For over 107 years, the JLA has left an indelible mark on the city of Atlanta, with some of the community's
most esteemed institutions founded or established in part by members of the organization.
This year's Board of Directors is focused on operationalizing and magnifying our chosen critical initiative: "Every Child Reads: The Junior League of Atlanta's Journey to Literacy for All." JLA is renewing its commitment and joining with its partners and coalitions across the city to establish metro
Atlanta as a national model of a full-scale language and literacy ecosystem with the launch of this initiative and collectively, believes that every child, in every family, from every neighborhood of Atlanta, must have access to the language and literacy skills they need to learn to read, in order to
empower the self-determination of Atlanta's women and children.
Driving this year's efforts is the organization's Board of Directors, led by President Chelsea Ulrich Tarnoff, a 10-year JLA veteran with an extensive background in corporate and nonprofit leadership and fundraising. "The Junior League of Atlanta has been a catalyst for positive community change
in Atlanta for more than a century," said Ulrich Tarnoff, "we are the place for service-minded women to make a difference in the city, and by continuing to empower and equip these women to serve and become leaders in the League and in their communities, we will exponentially grow the impact we have on the city, thanks to our growing pipeline of trained community and civic volunteer leaders."
Last year was a banner year of service for JLA. Some highlights included:
- Collective advocacy efforts supported the successful passage of House Bill 404 - the Safe at Home Act, protecting renters by ensuring landlords provide housing that is safe for human habitation.
-
Service in 14 Community Placements
-
$25,000 donation for transportation to L.E.A.D. Center For Youth <https://leadcenterforyouth.
org/> -
2,293 Clothing Items collected in two drives for Bloom our Youth <https://bloomfosters.org/> supporting teens in foster care
In response to ongoing service to the community, Ulrich Tarnoff stated, "The inequities that women and children face in the City of Atlanta continue to persist and we recognize - perhaps now more than ever - the importance of committed, trained volunteer leaders. We remain steadfast in our mission to
train our volunteers to effectively serve our partners, to understand the critical issues that face our community, and to develop the next generation of community leaders who will make the largest community impact. We are committed to collaboration with agencies and partners who are on the ground and will continue our efforts alongside them to reach our collective goal of empowering women and children to be self-determined, no matter their neighborhood."
The 2024-2025 Board of Directors is comprised of a diverse set of civic leaders and professionals who will lead the organization over the next 12 months.
