PAWS Atlanta Announces New Executive Director

PAWS Atlanta, Georgia’s oldest no-kill animal shelter, is pleased to announce the appointment of Crystal Bowman as their new Executive Director, effective May 28, 2024. Crystal will spearhead the shelter's operations and development efforts, playing a pivotal role in advancing PAWS Atlanta’s mission of bringing people and pets together.

In this role, Crystal will lead strategic vision for the future of PAWS Atlanta. As the organization continues to grow, she will work closely with the board of directors, staff, volunteers, and stakeholders to advance PAWS Atlanta’s impact in the community. Her breadth of experience will continue to expand the organization’s goals of providing compassionate care and finding loving homes for animals in need.

“When the Board set out to recruit our next Executive Director, we had high expectations of the leader we needed to hire,” says Board Chair, Patty Lavely. “Crystal has the experience, skills, and personality that we sought. PAWS Atlanta is in great hands to lead us into the future.”

Crystal brings with her over 15 years of experience in capital campaigns, development, and nonprofit management. She is a passionate and experienced animal advocate and leader with a proven record of success in previous roles. Most recently, Crystal served as the Senior Director of Member Impact and Giving at Hadassah, an esteemed international women’s organization. She also previously served as the Executive Director of Voices of Note and the Senior Vice President of Programs for StandUp for Kids, both mission-driven nonprofits in the Atlanta area.
