July is here with a sizzling lineup of educational activities, family fun and summer celebrations at the Children’s Museum of Atlanta! Families are invited to stretch their imagination during animal yoga sessions and participate in summer games of their own featuring hula hoops and jump ropes. The Science Bar offers kids an up-close look at experiments and the chance to learn about the scientific method. To celebrate Independence Day, the Museum will offer special activities including a fireworks-inspired science experiment and readings featuring “Fourth of July Mice.” The Animationland exhibit continues to encourage children to channel their creativity, learn animation fundamentals and create stories through art and science.

July Programming
Through Wednesday, July 31
Kids of all ages can participate in animal yoga, summer games and hands-on experiments at the Science Bar. In the Art Studio, little ones will have the opportunity to craft sports-themed silhouette artwork, while Jane’s Innovation Station offers a chance to design navigation tools suitable for different weather conditions. The Children’s Museum of Atlanta will offer dramatic readings of “The Rat Race: The Amazing Adventures of Anton B. Stanton.”

Science Bar
The Science Bar offers an interactive show on the scientific method, featuring the chemical reactions that power a volcano explosion. Budding scientists will discover how the experts ask questions, test hypotheses and share findings.

Art Studio
Kids are invited to a fun-filled, creative adventure as they select their favorite sport, then draw, cut and glue to craft their own unique sports silhouette masterpiece… perfect for athletes and artists alike!

Jane’s Innovation Station
At Jane’s Innovation Station, children will discover an exciting hands-on activity where they can design and build their very own adventuring tool! Whether it’s snowing, raining or sunny outside, their sturdy creations are designed to endure any weather condition during their next quest.

Independence Day Celebration
The Children’s Museum of Atlanta celebrates America with a special story featuring "Fourth of July Mice" by Bethany Roberts, immersing families in patriotic spirit. At the Science Bar, audiences will experience the magic of baking soda fireworks, and Jane’s Innovation Station will offer a chance to explore the science behind the holiday's iconic soundscapes.

Science Bar
The Science Bar will ignite baking soda fireworks, allowing little scientists to add pipettes of multi-colored citric acid to a tray of baking soda, observing base and acid reactions firsthand.

Jane’s Innovation Station
Jane’s Innovation Station helps kids commemorate Independence Day by examining the science of sound with a fireworks-inspired experiment, exploring eardrum vibrations and testing sound-dampening materials.

Mayor’s Summer Reading Club

The Mayor’s Summer Reading Club program promotes literacy skills and vocabulary enrichment in young children and families. This collaboration between the City of Atlanta, GEEARS (Georgia Early Education Alliance for Ready Students), PNC and the United Way is supported by many great public-private partnerships throughout the city of Atlanta. This summer, children will delve into "Noah's Family Farm," where Noah learns counting through farm life and "Bina's Harvest," a story of patience and growth in an apple orchard.

Animationland
Children’s Museum of Atlanta’s newest featured exhibit will educate little creatives on the art and science of animation while transporting guests of all ages to a fantastical land with a quirky cast of characters including Rooth, Drop, Inky, Uno and Kari. The exhibit focuses on the framework of the animation process using interactive features, including a sketching studio, a sound effects booth and the opportunity to plan and star in a stop-motion production. Families can visit the Museum to experience Animationland through Sunday, Sept. 8. Animationland is sponsored locally by Publix Supermarket Charities with additional support from City of Atlanta Mayor's Office of Cultural Affairs and Fulton County Arts & Culture.
