The Marcus Jewish Community Center of Atlanta (MJCCA) is thrilled to announce its upcoming diverse and engaging Arts & Authors programming for Fall 2024. This season's lineup offers something for everyone, from health and wellness enthusiasts to music lovers and young families.
Highlighting the MJCCA's commitment to inclusive and accessible cultural experiences, upcoming Fall programming features renowned figures like six-time New York Times Best-Selling Author Melissa Urban, celebrated jazz pianist Joe Alterman, Jewish-centered storytelling with educator Jonathan Shmidt Chapman, and world-class children’s theater in partnership with the Tony-Award Winning Alliance Theatre.

Whole30 co-founder Melissa Urban will present her latest book, "The New Whole30." Urban’s book provides updated rules, language, and success strategies for omnivores and those exploring plant-based diets. The event is sponsored by A Cappella Books, which will have additional copies for purchase. This event includes an author talk, a Q&A session, and a book signing.

The Joe Alterman Trio Presents the Sounds of Jewish America
Experience the rich tapestry of "The Sounds of Jewish America," an educational musical extravaganza that unravels the captivating narrative behind iconic American tunes. Critically acclaimed jazz pianist and scholar Joe Alterman will take guests on a melodic journey through the 20th century, showcasing the indelible contributions of Jewish composers and artists to the American musical landscape. This unique concert blends captivating performances with insightful storytelling, revealing the hidden Jewish essence embedded within beloved melodies. From Irving Berlin's timeless classics to Carole King's chart-topping hits and beyond, explore the vibrant intersection of Jewish heritage and American music that defines a cultural legacy. Alliance Theatre for the Very Young (TVY) Presents The Curious Cardinal
An immersive theater experience for young children and infants. Follow the curious cardinal, "CC," as it explores the changing seasons in a Georgia forest. Join CC on their adventure beyond the city and soar to new heights in the spring, bid a fond farewell to the friendly otters in the summer, bicker and befriend squirrels in the fall, and explore the crisp, cool air in the winter. Based on the book by Mark Valdez and illustrated by Nicole Kang Ahn, this show celebrates Georgia’s natural habitats and the wonders of nature.

Join award-winning artist and Jewish educator Jonathan Shmidt Chapman for an interactive family storytelling workshop. Families will explore the story of Noah’s Ark through participatory storytelling and theatrical play, creating animal characters and discovering a rainbow after the storm. Following the workshop, Jonathan will sign copies of his new book, "Let There Be Play."
