Night of Hope to Raise Funds for Community Asssistance Center

Staff Report From Georgia CEO

Tuesday, July 9th, 2024

Night of Hope” is a special July 16th performance of the musical Jersey Boys to raise much-needed funds for the Community Assistance Center (CAC). The show starts at 7:30pm in the Byers Theatre at the Sandy Springs Performing Arts Center. A dessert reception follows the award-winning musical.

CAC has partnered with City Springs Theatre Company to receive a portion of the ticket sale proceeds from the benefit performance to fight hunger and homelessness in the Perimeter area. "This partnership between CAC and City Springs Theatre Company is a perfect example of how nonprofits can come together to support each other and serve our community," says Francis K. Horton III, CEO of CAC.

Jersey Boys is a musical that follows the fascinating evolution of four blue-collar kids who became one of the greatest successes in pop music history – Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons. The phenomenal music, memorable characters, and unique storytelling have earned the show Tony®, Grammy®, and Olivier® awards.

“What could be better than pairing a great performance with an opportunity for our neighbors to take an active role in bettering our community?” asks George Northrop, Development Director of CAC. Northrop hopes to see many Perimeter-area residents at the performance, and reminds ticket-holders to, “…stick around after the show for a short dessert reception and to hear more about how CAC is helping our neighbors in need overcome crisis and thrive." Nothing Bundt Cakes in Sandy Springs will be providing delicious cakes for the reception.

The catchy tunes of Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons promise to lift the spirits, and the inspiration will continue during the reception. Ticket holders will be impressed by the enormous community impact of CAC. The story of musical success in Jersey Boys sets the stage for the success stories of CAC, an organization that has helped more than 35,000 families in economic hardship.

Fundraising events like this Night of Hope are critical for CAC as requests for assistance continue to rise month over month, and are up 33% compared to this time last year. Financial contributions directly help CAC fulfill its mission to provide basic needs assistance to prevent homelessness and hunger while promoting self-sufficiency and empowering them to thrive.
