AmeriPro Health Expands U.S. Footprint w/ Acquisition of Rapid Response EMS
Thursday, August 1st, 2024
AmeriPro Health, an industry leader in patient logistics and last-mile healthcare delivery, announced today the acquisition of Rapid Response EMS, a full-service EMS provider with nearly 200 employees headquartered in Romulus, Michigan, near Detroit. The transaction coincides with other strategic acquisitions AmeriPro has made in recent months, and establishes a new operating hub for the company in the broader Great Lakes region.
As part of the merger, AmeriPro is immediately upgrading the fleet with 18 new state-of-the-art ambulances that will serve Detroit and five other communities totaling two million residents across Wayne County. All Rapid Response employees are now part of the AmeriPro brand, including the company’s entire leadership team. AmeriPro is also aggressively launching a hiring campaign to bring more jobs and opportunities to paramedics and EMTs in the state of Michigan.
The move enables AmeriPro to deploy its game-changing logistics network and proprietary AI & data platform across the hospital footprint Rapid Response currently services, helping identify and eliminate bottlenecks, decrease ambulance response times, and optimize the overall patient experience.
Rapid Response has provided EMS services for Metro Detroit since 2004 and currently operates a fleet of 26 ambulances. The seamless integration of the two organizations creates a strong, dynamic presence in Detroit’s ultra-competitive EMS market.
“We’re thrilled to welcome Rapid Response’s highly skilled and dedicated team of professionals into the AmeriPro family,” said Larry Richardson, chief business officer at AmeriPro Health. “There was a lot of natural synergy between our two teams thanks to shared values and culture, and the addition of the resources and capabilities AmeriPro brings to the table will add value to the existing operation already in place. The true winners of this transaction are the residents of Wayne County. AmeriPro looks forward to writing the next chapter of our growth story in Michigan and the broader Great Lakes region.”
“While evaluating the framework of a potential merger, it quickly became apparent that AmeriPro possessed the capital and technology that was needed to take our patient-focused mission to the next level,” said Tommy Widmer, CEO of Rapid Response EMS. “The name and logo on our ambulance fleet is changing, but the values and commitment to excellence that enabled our company to reach this point will continue to live on. Our team members have been taken care of, and we’re excited to get to work as we move forward under the AmeriPro banner.”
The new Detroit hub creates a regional launching pad for AmeriPro as it explores other expansion opportunities in nearby states like Ohio, Indiana, Illinois and beyond. The company has differentiated itself in the market through its commitment to delivering best-in-class transportation solutions, prioritizing patient safety and experience, and driving innovation across the industry.
This announcement follows AmeriPro Health’s swift growth across the country, including last year when they entered Indiana and Kentucky.
Established in 2018 with 10 ambulances in the Metro Atlanta area, AmeriPro Health has rapidly grown to more than 1,500 employees in 10 states.
