City of Atlanta leaders will participate in an ethics training in partnership with the Carl Vinson Institute of Government. This ethics training supports Mayor Dickens’ Moving Atlanta Forward agenda pillar of creating an Ethical and Efficient government. The training is based on the City ethics code with scenarios that ensure 150 senior leaders understand ethical expectations of the administration.

“From the beginning of our Administration, ethics has been one of my four pillars. Having a government focused on ethical and efficient practices is central to our collective success. Not only is this an opportunity for our leaders to take this training back to their respective departments and enhance efficiency and accountability citywide—we can further instill confidence and trust with our residents,” said Mayor Dickens.

The Carl Vinson Institute of Government, which promotes excellence in government at all levels, will conduct a series of ethical leadership training sessions to enhance ethical awareness and decision-making. These sessions will examine the range of consequences for public servants when ethical decision-making is in question, including public perception and appearance, liability, and impropriety.

This training series comes on the heels of recent reporting from the Ethics Office citing that for the first time, all departments and required reporting agencies have reached over 90% compliance. This represents a 10% increase from last year and is a remarkable group effort.
