Author’s Den Announces Grand Opening on September 20, 2024

Staff Report From Georgia CEO

Tuesday, September 17th, 2024

Author’s Den, Hyatt Centric Midtown Atlanta’s n-site restaurant, is delighted to announce its grand opening on Friday, September 20, 2024. Serving Southern food with a global twist, Author’s Den pulls inspiration from Midtown Atlanta’s vibrant history and strong position in the South.

Author’s Den is rightly named given its location across the street from the Margaret Mitchell House, where Gone with the Wind was written, and where Boyd Lewis, a legendary photojournalist and civil rights activist, lived. The restaurant’s spirit celebrates Midtown Atlanta’s cultural and arts movement in the 1970s. Mirroring the community partnerships that transformed Midtown during that time, Author’s Den is committed to supporting local farmers, artists and businesses.

The restaurant has been rebranded, renovated and redesigned, and complemented by a new menu curated by new Executive Chef Celso Pinto. Author’s Den offers spacious seating, a full-service bar and dining room, a new private dining and meeting area, a pool table and a bookshelf filled by local bookstores. Celebrating the creative passion that fueled Midtown in the 1970s, it's the perfect place to grab a drink with a friend, meet for a casual but elegant weekday dinner, or dine before a show at Fox Theatre.

“We are excited to open our doors to the public,” said Eileen Gago, General Manager at Hyatt Centric Midtown Atlanta. “Author’s Den reflects Midtown Atlanta’s rich cultural history and is a social hub for meeting, drinking, dining and most importantly, building community. We can’t wait to welcome guests and show off our new space.”

The menu offers unique dishes with Southern influences made with local ingredients. Snack on small plates such as the Crispy Pork Belly and Brazilian Tapioca Cheese Fritters, Green Tomato Toast with Pimento Cheese, Slow-Cooked Smoked Brisket Sliders, or Georgia Grown Crudite. Entrees include Steak & Frites, Crab Cake Sandwich, Gnocchi with Four Cheese Sauce, Tandoori Spiced Grilled Chicken and more. You can’t go wrong with handcrafted cocktails including the Atlanta Sour, Tropics in the Park or Midtown Sunset.

Beginning September 20, 2024, Author’s Den will serve breakfast and dinner. Breakfast is served from 6:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Monday through Friday and 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on weekends. Dinner service begins at 5:00 p.m. and ends at 10:00 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and at 12:00 a.m. Friday through Saturday. The bar menu is available until 11:00 p.m. Monday through Thursday and on Sundays, and to 12:00 a.m. on Fridays and Saturdays.
