Steak & Grace Slated to Open in Dunwoody Late 2024

Staff Report From Georgia CEO

A new neighborhood restaurant from longtime Atlanta restaurateur Barry Mills will soon put a modern spin on the steakhouse dining experience. The atmosphere of Steak & Grace will be light and airy, modern and open, with whimsical touches of design. Fire-cooked steaks will highlight a menu satisfying every palate and featuring seafood, chicken, large salads, sandwiches, and gluten-free, keto, and dairy-free options. Mills’ other restaurant ventures include FLIP Burger Boutique, HD1, and Big B’s Fish Joint.

Slated to open before the end of the year in Dunwoody Village, Steak & Grace is taking over the 3,500-square-foot space formerly occupied by First Watch. Mills describes the restaurant as authentic and approachable, with the elements of fine dining in a relaxed, family-friendly, and neighborhood-focused setting.

“I prefer restaurants that deliver on service, food quality, interesting design, and other things that go into a dining experience but with a little more casual approach,” he says. “There are several traditional steakhouses in the perimeter area, so we want to differentiate ourselves with the atmosphere and diverse menu. We want this to be a neighborhood gathering place where you don’t need a coat and tie. We believe this warm and welcoming style will attract guests of all ages.”

Executive chef Conor O’Reilly, formerly with Fifth Group Restaurants, will create composed dishes eschewing the a la carte side approach common in many steak restaurants. Mills believes this provides a more affordable dining experience. Daily lunch menus will include generous salads, mouthwatering burgers, and sandwiches, and they are designing a fun weekend brunch menu as well. Fresh steaks will be delivered daily, and all sides, sauces, and desserts will be made in-house.

The interior at Steak & Grace will be very bright, with lighter hues, lots of windows, and even a large patio and outdoor fireplace. The open floor plan caters to a more social and casual atmosphere, while upbeat music will ensure a relaxed, fun ambiance. Mills says they are also skipping the overstuffed, complicated wine menu.

“Our well-curated wine list will pair very well with the menu, with plenty of by-the-glass options,” he says.

In addition to wine offerings, an expanded 15-seat bar will feature classic cocktails and craft beers, and details for a happy hour are in the works.

Mills points to Big B’s Fish Joint in Sandy Springs and says he wants a similar vibe at Steak & Grace. “We’re envisioning a neighborhood restaurant with broad appeal that’s welcoming to everybody. At Big B’s, we have regulars of all ages who come in every week, and that’s what we are excited to do in Dunwoody.”
