TAG Academy to Become First Public School in Metro Atlanta to Earn Prestigious Distinction from Apple, Tuesday
Wednesday, September 11th, 2024
Tuskegee Airmen Global (TAG) Academy, an elementary school in southwest Atlanta, has become the first public school in metro Atlanta, and only the seventh school in Georgia, to earn the distinction of Apple Distinguished School from the global technology giant.
Representatives from Apple will be at the school on Tuesday morning to recognize TAG and Principal Melanie Sithole during a brief ceremony.
Just 889 schools in 37 countries have earned the distinction, which is a challenging and tedious process that takes two to three years. In order to earn Apple Distinguished status a school must establish a one-to-one, student-to-iPad or Mac device ratio, demonstrate innovative use of the Apple platform in academic activities, show proficiency among school faculty and leadership in iPad or Mac devices, and illustrate dedication to continuous innovation.
-
As part of the Apple Distinguished Schools program, TAG will:
-
Collaborate with a worldwide leadership network of like-minded peers.
-
Be eligible to participate in engaging, relevant, and innovative professional learning opportunities.
-
Engage with the Apple Education team.
-
Receive exclusive program communications and invitations to leadership events.
-
Receive the Apple Distinguished School logo artwork to use in your communication materials.
-
Be included in the Apple Distinguished Schools Worldwide Directory.
