The Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority (MARTA) will host a special bus unveiling to honor the legacy of civil rights icon and global diplomat, Ambassador Andrew Young, on Friday, Nov. 15, at 2 p.m. at the Ray Charles Performing Arts Center on the Morehouse College campus.

“As part of our ongoing tribute to Atlanta’s Civil Rights icons, we are proud to celebrate Ambassador Young’s lifelong commitment to social justice, human rights, and public service,” said MARTA General Manager and CEO Collie Greenwood. “This bus honors his work, which is intertwined with Atlanta's history and MARTA’s mission to serve the community and advance opportunity.”

Ambassador Young was a key organizer in the Civil Rights Movement, a close advisor to Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., and a prominent advocate for public transit. His leadership extended beyond Atlanta, representing the U.S. as Ambassador to the United Nations, and serving as Mayor of Atlanta, where he championed infrastructure projects that expanded MARTA and promoted equitable development. His legacy is a testament to the power of public service and international leadership.
