David Weekley Homes Breaks Records with Thanksgiving Food Drive to Benefit St. Vincent De Paul Georgia

As it closes in on its 20th year, the Giving Thanks, Giving Back Thanksgiving Drive – hosted by David Weekley Homes’ Atlanta Division since 2005 – broke some records this year. After collecting donations of non-perishable food items at its model homes throughout Metro Atlanta, culminating in the collection of frozen turkeys at its corporate HQ in Roswell, the award-winning homebuilder was proud to make a special delivery to St. Vincent de Paul Georgia. In the refrigerated truck headed to the oldest, largest, and most trusted statewide social services safety net organization in Georgia with the aim of providing help and hope to neighbors in need were 2,509 non-perishable food items and 5,277 lbs. of frozen turkeys – more than enough to feed an estimated 1,700+ individuals. David Weekley Homes’ charitable arm – the Dovetail Impact Foundation – also delivered a $10,000 donation, with an additional $3,600 gifted by generous donors.
“We could not have done this without the generosity of our Team Members, Home Owners, Vendors, and neighbors,” said Lesa Ness, David Weekley Homes’ Marketing Director and Team Lead for the Atlanta Division’s community outreach CARE Program. “What really made the difference the last two years is the incorporation of wish lists on Amazon and Walmart.com, allowing donors to order online and send items directly to St. Vincent de Paul. We also received 62 more frozen turkeys this year than in 2023, so I’m extraordinarily pleased that the word continues to spread. As for the donation from Dovetail and our friends, those funds will be used to enhance St. Vincent de Paul’s food pantry at its main service center in Chamblee with appliances and security features. Community is so central to the culture at David Weekley Homes, and I couldn’t be prouder that we were able to give in such a big way this year. We genuinely hope it helps put a little HAPPY back in the holiday season for our neighbors in need.”
David Weekley Homes’ CARE program is focused on improving lives through initiatives like the Thanksgiving Drive, Back-to-School Supplies Drive, blood drives, an annual Build Day for a local nonprofit, and other efforts through its long-standing partnership with HomeAid Georgia (formerly HomeAid Atlanta.) As a result of its spirit of volunteerism and philanthropy, David Weekley Homes Atlanta was recognized with a Gold Obie Award for Community Service by the Sales and Marketing Council of the Greater Atlanta Home Builders Association earlier this year. Integral to this year’s Thanksgiving Food Drive were Weaver Grading, Thomas Concrete, Samuel Concrete, and Southern Design Concrete.
