Atlanta #2 Best U.S. City for Digital Nomads
Friday, December 13th, 2024
According to CoworkingMag’s latest data-based study highlighting the top U.S. cities for digital nomads, Atlanta is the 2nd best city for remote professionals. This ranking is attributed to its affordable coworking spaces, lower cost of living, abundant entertainment options and widespread public WiFi network.
Why it matters: over the past few years, the digital nomad movement has exploded—there are now over 40 million digital nomads globally, with more than 18 million based in the United States alone.
Why is Atlanta a haven for digital nomads among the U.S. cities:
- Atlanta ranks as the 2nd best city for digital nomads, tailgating Miami, FL;
- The city boasts the 3rd highest number of entertainment options, with 695 establishments – like coffee shops, restaurants and performing arts venues – per 100,000 residents;
- Atlanta also puts forward the 5th highest density of public WiFi, with 150 hotspots per 100,000 residents and an impressive average internet speed of almost 469 Mbps;
- With nearly one coworking space per square mile, Atlanta ranks 6th for coworking space;
- The city offers the 8th highest density of traveler accommodations, with over two per square mile;
- Atlanta ranks as the 22nd most budget-friendly city, with a cost-of-living index of 98.2 and a median coworking price of $269/month.
Nationally, the South dominates as a hotspot for digital nomads, with seven of the top 15 U.S. cities catering to remote professionals located in the region. Meanwhile, the West secures four spots, followed closely by the Midwest with three. The Northeastern region stands out with only one contender in our top 15: Pittsburgh, PA.
