Friday, December 20th, 2024

National developer Portman today announces it has hired Sean Henry as Senior Vice President to lead the company in a new venture dedicated to acquiring multifamily properties. With more than 20 years of commercial real estate experience, Henry has an impressive track record, including leading transactions exceeding $6 billion and acquisitions surpassing $1.5 billion.

In this newly created role for Portman, Henry will be focused on identifying, evaluating and executing multifamily investment opportunities that align with the company’s overall growth strategy. Portman is actively targeting properties with over 200 apartment units in key markets across the Southeast, Texas and Florida that demonstrate long-term population, job and income growth.

“As the sector faces a 50-year high in apartment deliveries, we saw an opportunity to expand our residential platform to include acquiring properties that are poised for repositioning, especially as new supply dwindles next year,” said Harvey Wadsworth, Managing Director for Portman. “Sean is recognized throughout the industry for his ability to cultivate strong relationships, as well as his strategic mindset for structuring equity deals and navigating multifaceted negotiations. We are proud to have him on board and look forward to this next chapter of growth for our team.”

Before Portman, Henry served as Chief Investment Officer for LMS Investment Management, a vertically integrated multifamily real estate firm. Throughout his career, he has held leadership roles for CrowdStreet, Capstone, Moran & Company and Apartment Realty Advisors.

“Portman is one of the industry’s top players in multifamily development, and it has one of the best teams in place to effectively reposition underperforming properties and deliver outsized returns,” said Henry. “In this next chapter of my career, I look forward to leveraging the expertise of the Portman team and the strength of its capital partners to uphold the company’s legacy as an innovative leader in real estate.”

Portman’s residential team has developed over 20,000 residential homes. Its national portfolio includes premier multifamily communities like Sora at Spring Quarter in Midtown Atlanta, Starling in Nashville’s Germantown neighborhood, Vera at Savona Mill in West End Charlotte, and Linea in Charlotte’s South End district.
