Swinerton, an industry-leading commercial general contractor with offices nationwide, announces the construction of a new fire station for Johns Creek Fire Department. Upon its completion in 2025, JCFD Station #63 doubles the capacity of the existing fire station and adds a much-needed police substation at the location. The $7.8 million construction project broke ground in November with an anticipated completion in November 2025.

“Swinerton has extensive coast-to-coast experience in the civic sector,” explains Derek Mosiman, vice president, division manager, Swinerton Atlanta division. “In the Southeast, the Charlotte division is currently building the City of Charlotte’s first all-electric fire station, while other civic projects have included everything from libraries to community centers to municipal office buildings. Johns Creek Fire Station #63 is the next civic project to get underway by the Atlanta team.” Other notable civic projects focusing on public safety include the City of Rialto, Calif. Police Station, City of South San Francisco Police Operations and 911 Dispatch Center and Salinas, Calif. Police Service Headquarters.

The new 14,675-square foot station is located on a 2.11-acre site within Newtown Park at 9880 Brumbelow Rd. in Johns Creek, Ga., a half-mile from its existing station at 3165 Old Alabama Road. The project, which will also house a substation for Johns Creek Police Department, includes a 13,891-square foot station house that doubles the capacity of the original facility and a 766-square-foot storage facility. Key features include two double-depth bays for trucks, work areas, a kitchen and dining room, day room facilities, bunk rooms, an apparatus bay, a gear maintenance area and an outdoor staging area. Plans also include the relocation of an existing tree and monument honoring a fallen firefighter from the old firehouse to the new station.

Swinerton serves as the general contractor providing ground-up construction services that will also tap the firm’s self-perform services for framing and drywall. Kennesaw, Ga.-based CROFT & Associates designed the station.

Since expanding to the Southeast in 2018, Swinerton’s Atlanta division has constructed nearly $500 million of commercial environments. The expert team of 70 construction professionals specializes in aviation, corporate interiors, healthcare, hospitality, and senior and affordable multifamily housing.
