Trader Joe’s to Open at Halcyon; Following Mixed-Use Destination's Fifth Anniversary

Staff Report From Georgia CEO

Tuesday, December 3rd, 2024

Halcyon, Forsyth County’s beloved mixed-use district, announces Trader Joe’s is joining the community soon. The exciting announcement comes as Halcyon celebrates five years of creating meaningful connections, fostering community and driving economic growth. Located on the Big Creek Greenway trailhead side of Halcyon next to the new Chick-fil-A, the neighborhood grocery store will offer its signature products and world-class customer service to the people of Forsyth County.

“For five years, Halcyon has been your date night, your retail indulgence, the background of your photos and the place where countless memories were made,” said Phil Mays, Principal of RocaPoint Partners, the developer of Halcyon. “Trader Joe’s is the missing puzzle piece that fits right in, functioning as a vital service provider that helps to complete our district. We look forward to the many milestones to come as we enter year six, including the addition of several retailers in Phase III.”

Since its opening in October 2019, Halcyon has transformed into a vibrant social hub for the region. It has hosted over 1,750 events, welcomed 10 million property visits, gained more than 70,000 social media followers and contributed more than $300,000 in donations for local organizations.

From the very beginning, one of Halcyon’s most distinctive features has been its seamless integration with nature. From adding more than a mile of new trail connectivity to the Big Creek Greenway, including a bridge and boardwalks that enhance the community’s outdoor experience, to preserving more than 50 acres of greenspace on the property, Halcyon guests, employees and residents have relied on the destination as a welcoming space to explore and connect with nature.

The Village Green, located in Phase I and surrounded by the 6-stall Market Hall, Cherry Street Brewpub, Eclipse di Luna, CT Cantina & Taqueria and other local retailers, serves as another opportunity for the community to gather. Additionally, the greenspace has hosted many of the more than 1,750 community events, ranging from Farm Animal Yoga to the largest Doodle Dog Day event in the Southeast. Through purposeful programming and events, Halcyon has created a model for giving back to the surrounding community.

Halcyon has exceeded its initial projections through an intentionally executed plan and strong capital backing, maintaining momentum without requiring public funding support. The development has attracted major corporate tenants, including Morgan Stanley, which brought 500 jobs to the area. Each phase has brought more job opportunities and more reasons to stay and play in the area, such as with the Embassy Suites by Hilton and the experiential retail tenants, such as the CMX Cinebistro and X-Golf.

As Halcyon enters its sixth year as a part of the Forsyth County region, Phase III construction continues. Trader Joe’s will operate a 13,500-square-foot location at Halcyon, joining seven other locations in metro Atlanta. In addition to Trader Joe’s, Chewy Vet Care, Chase Bank, Chick-fil-A and Five Guys will open in the next phase. RocaPoint remains focused on enhancing the guest – and their pets – experience through thoughtful expansion and community-driven programming.
