Chattahoochee Nature Center and Metropolitan North Georgia Water Planning District today announced details surrounding the 13th Annual Water Drop Dash 5K. Set for 8 a.m. on Saturday, March 22 at Chattahoochee Nature Center in Roswell, the anticipated return of the popular local race – which is an AJC Peachtree Road Race qualifier – is expected to welcome more than 800 participants. A flat and fast course along the banks of the Chattahoochee River, the event is presented in celebration of the national EPA WaterSense ‘Fix a Leak Week’ which takes place March 17-23 and focuses on reminding homeowners to check their plumbing fixtures and irrigation systems for leaks to save two valuable resources: water and money.
“We are so pleased to collaborate yet again with the Metropolitan North Georgia Water Planning District on this event to help increase awareness about the importance of water conservation and the valuable resource the Chattahoochee River plays in the lives of all of us across the region,” said Tamara Kinmon, Senior Director of Special Events, Marketing, and Camp for Chattahoochee Nature Center. “We look forward to celebrating the 13th Anniversary of the Water Drop Dash and welcoming members of our community for an exciting edu-taining day!”
Runners and walkers have the option to participate in the Water Drop Dash 5K either in person at Chattahoochee Nature Center or virtually, as a ghost runner. Virtual options are available for the 5K and one-mile Fun Run. The 5K is held along a beautiful, flat, and scenic stretch of the Chattahoochee River, starting and finishing at Chattahoochee Nature Center. The Fun Run is set on a one-mile course along the river. All 5K registrants will receive a race shirt, finisher medal, as well as a race number with a chip time to monitor their time and determine if they qualify for the AJC Peachtree Road Race. Runners will also receive free race photos from True Speed Photo.
“We are grateful for our partnership with Chattahoochee Nature Center to present the Water Drop Dash for 13 amazing years, and we’re thrilled to celebrate with the hundreds of loyal runners and walkers who return each year to participate in this race for an important cause,” said Justine Schwartz, Education and Public Engagement Specialist for the Metropolitan North Georgia Water Planning District. “We love providing such a fun way to bring awareness to so many people of all ages of the importance of water conservation and EPA’s WaterSense Fix a Leak Week.”
A post-race Water Festival will feature resources, giveaways, and activities from local water utilities and sponsors, along with free admission to Chattahoochee Nature Center on race day, further expanding the event for all participants.
