Note: Since the U.S. Census Bureau doesn't have a formal definition of a suburb, this study takes a very broad look and considers every city within a given metropolitan area with the exception of the largest (listed) city in the metro-area name. So our "suburb" analysis highlights any city within a metro area that is considered part of the metropolitan statistical area. It's a hub and spoke translation of a suburb, where the central most populous hub is omitted and anything branching off from it and included within the greater MSA is considered a suburb.
