MICHELIN Star Omakase Table Moving to Buckhead

Staff Report From Georgia CEO

Thursday, February 13th, 2025

Chef Leonard Yu announces his acclaimed Omakase Table will open in a new location on Wednesday, March 12, at 3300 Piedmont Road in the Buckhead Landing shopping center. The intimate and memorable dining experience received a MICHELIN Star in October 2024 and is revered for its intriguing take on Japanese sushi. Yu and his team will transition Omakase Table’s original West Midtown location into a more abridged omakase concept called Neko in the coming months.

“Omakase Table originated as a pop-up in Buckhead, so this neighborhood is where it all started and is very special to me,” says Yu. “The new space represents how far we’ve come.”

At Omakase Table, Yu and his team showcase the finest ingredients—fish from Toyosu Market in Tokyo, artisan soy sauce, and Koshihikari rice—and impeccable attention to detail when crafting the 20-course tasting menu. The journey begins with an aperitif of caviar and sparkling wine, followed by otsumami (Japanese small plates), nigiri, a hand roll, and dessert. The menu changes daily and is based on seasonality and market availability.

In addition to the full bar featuring distinct Japanese beers, wines, sake, and signature cocktails, an omakase cocktail pairing is in the works. It will be available in April to accompany Yu’s masterpieces.

While the menu, format, and timing of the Omakase Table experience remain the same, diners can expect more refined surroundings. The new 2,000-square-foot restaurant features two rooms, one with 10 counter seats and another with eight, to offer a more private atmosphere. The layout allows for added staggered seating and provides the option for private events.

The chic décor blends natural wood with rich grey tones and soft lighting for an elegant and moody ambiance. Although minimalist, the interiors provide warmth and tranquility while allowing diners to fully focus on the flavors and textures of the meal. The Buckhead restaurant also features a separate cocktail bar with 10 seats where guests can enjoy a beverage before their meal.

“We’re very excited about the opportunity to serve more guests in our new location and offer a bar area where we will soon introduce our omakase cocktail experience,” says general manager Jypzi Suepongsa.

The Buckhead restaurant will be open Wednesday through Sunday with seatings at 5 p.m., 5:30 p.m., 8 p.m., and 8:30 p.m. Reservations are required at Omakase Table Buckhead and can be made via Resy. Walk-ins are not permitted.

The original West Midtown location’s last day of service is March 2, after which the space will transition to a new entry-level omakase dining experience with fewer courses called Neko (Japanese for “cat”). Neko is scheduled to open in April.
