Von Tran to be Honored as 2025 Leader in Corporate Citizenship by Atlanta Business Chronicle
Friday, February 7th, 2025
On February 20, Von Tran will be recognized by the Atlanta Business Chronicle as a 2025 Leader in Corporate Citizenship. She has been awarded the Executive Champion - Small Company Award for her significant impact on the community.
The award “highlights individuals who are integrating relevant societal concerns into their core business strategies.” Tran’s commitment to serving the elderly Vietnamese community in Georgia has been a driving force behind her success.
In 2017, Tran established First Senior Center (FSC) with the goal of providing both nonprofit and for-profit services to the elderly Vietnamese population. FSC began with daycare services for seniors in June 2017, serving 70-100 individuals daily, five days a week. In 2018, she formed the 501(c)(3) First Senior Center of Georgia (FSCofGA), further solidifying her dedication to this underserved community.
When asked why she started the center, Tran said, "I spent the first 50 years of my life focusing on myself, doing what I can to get stable. The second 50 years are for serving others and making a difference. I have a burning desire to do so. I am just trying to meet the needs of my senior community.” Many minority groups are often overlooked, but Tran is actively working with government and local support systems to bring much-needed assistance to her community. FSCofGA is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing free services to the Vietnamese elderly community in Atlanta and surrounding areas.
The center has evolved into a lifeline for low-income seniors, offering essential services such as language support, health care programs, benefits enrollment aid, affordable housing support, end-of-life care, transportation, crisis management, and a place to congregate and socialize. Additionally, the center operates a weekly food pantry that serves over 3,200 low-income households monthly, primarily focusing on seniors aged 65 and above. The pantry provides culturally relevant goods, including fresh produce, meats, dairy, household supplies, and other essentials to alleviate food insecurity.
Von Tran is a pillar of the community and will be recognized for her hard work and dedication. She will be honored during a ceremony on February 20 from 4-6 p.m. at The Dogwood at Westside Paper.
