Madre Selva Opens at Uptown Atlanta
Thursday, March 20th, 2025
Coastal elegance. Peruvian roots. Bold Latin flavors. These are just a few of the experiences found at Madre Selva, the new Latin Coastal restaurant officially open at Uptown Atlanta, the 47-acre mixed-use destination being redeveloped by Rubenstein Partners, L.P. (together with its affiliates, “Rubenstein”). Madre Selva joins a collection of recently opened and globally inspired restaurants at Uptown, including El Gordo, Bene Korean, and J’ouvert Caribbean Kitchen.
Madre Selva is located in the heart of Uptown’s Main Street, where Rubenstein has created an eclectic and chef-driven restaurant row. Born from entrepreneurs Juan Segura and Francisco Puerta, Madre Selva features Atlanta’s first ceviche bar and an elevated menu of vibrant Latin American dishes, including Lomo saltado, Parmigiano Conchitas, Classic Peruvian Ceviche, and Nikkei stir fry. With two patios that seat up to 70 guests, the space is designed as a refined sanctuary where the essence of Mother Jungle meets modern cuisine.
"We’ve already received an incredible response from the community during our soft opening, and we’re thrilled to officially welcome guests into the full Madre Selva experience," said co-founders Juan Segura and Francisco Puerta. "Our vision was to create a space where people can gather, celebrate, and connect, centered around the vibrancy of Latin coastal flavors and handcrafted cocktails. Atlanta has embraced us with open arms, and we can’t wait for the many unforgettable moments that will unfold here."
Madre Selva’s culinary vision is led by Executive Chef Carlos Enriquez, a Lima-born Peruvian chef who has honed his craft in some of Miami’s top restaurants and is now based in Atlanta. Enriquez brings a deep respect for high-quality ingredients, precise techniques, and the authentic flavors that define Peru’s globally celebrated cuisine. His expertise is rooted in both tradition and innovation, drawing from ancestral cooking methods while incorporating the bold influences of Nikkei and Latin coastal flavors. With a meticulous approach to craftsmanship, he curates a menu that honors Peru’s rich culinary heritage, blending fresh seafood, indigenous ingredients, and contemporary execution to create an unforgettable dining experience that embodies the essence of Peru’s rise as a global gastronomic trend.
Alex Holender, a renowned bartender and consultant from Peru with experience across the restaurant industry, will bring the pisco knowledge (a type of grape based spirit popular in Peru, distilled out of the freshly fermented grape juice). Madre Selva is currently open for dinner and will soon expand its hours to include lunch and brunch, serving both Uptown’s office community and the thousands of residents that live nearby.
Rubenstein recently opened several new retailers and restaurants at Uptown, including El Gordo, an authentic taqueria; Bene Korean, an upscale Korean barbeque; J’ouvert Caribbean Kitchen, a street food and brunch restaurant; Roundhouse Kickboxing, a dynamic fitness studio; The Commodore, a retro barbershop; and Fly on a Wall, an Atlanta-based arts platform and studio. In the coming weeks, White Windmill, a popular Korean bakery, and Sugarcoat, a neighborhood nail and beauty salon, will open at Uptown. The new restaurants and retail join 26 Thai Kitchen and Bar and Chow À La Carte at Uptown Test Kitchen, a novel culinary experience designed to bring the community and local chefs from around the world together.
“We are proud for Uptown to introduce even more new-to-Atlanta flavors to the community, cementing the mixed-use destination as a place to experience a variety of globally inspired flavors, from street tacos and Korean barbeque to Caribbean brunch and Peruvian cuisine,” said Mahesh Mani, Senior Vice President of Asset Management for Rubenstein.
Anchored by the Lindbergh MARTA Station, Uptown encompasses nearly 1 million square feet of office space,120,000 square feet of retail and restaurant space and a variety of community gathering spaces. The transit-oriented community features connectivity to the city’s major pedestrian trails, such as the Atlanta BeltLine, PATH400 and the South Fork Trail. As part of the redevelopment, Rubenstein modernized the 35,000-square-foot office atrium; elevated building facades; created a true, pedestrian-friendly Main Street; and transformed The Lawn into a highly programmed community gathering space.
