Annual Fundraiser to Spotlight Corporate Partnership and Acquisition of DeKalb Rape Crisis Center
Monday, April 21st, 2025
The Women’s Resource Center to End Domestic Violence (WRCDV) will host its annual Champions for Change fundraiser on Thursday, April 24, 2025, at 6:00 p.m. at the Georgia Aquarium, honoring Southwire Company for eight years of impactful partnership supporting survivors of domestic violence.
Southwire’s dedication to WRCDV has included in-kind donations, volunteer engagement, and consistent financial support—helping survivors rebuild stability, find safety, and begin healing. WRCDV will also spotlight its recent acquisition of the DeKalb Rape Crisis Center (Day League), marking a transformational step in expanding services to include sexual assault crisis response. Atlanta law firm McDermott Will & Emery donated over 100 pro bono hours to make this acquisition possible, expanding services to include a 24/7 sexual assault hotline, forensic medical exams, and expanded therapy and counseling to WRCDV’s existing services.
“Southwire is incredibly honored to be a partner of the Women’s Resource Center to End Domestic Violence,” said Cara Herzog, Southwire’s Chief Inclusion Officer. “Our company’s success and growth have been driven by a commitment to do well by doing good, which shows up for us in many ways – through our culture, through our values, through our approach to sustainability and through our ongoing efforts to give and make a difference where it matters most. We support and believe in the mission of WRCDV to create a society in which domestic violence no longer exists.”
The evening will feature recognition of Southwire’s leadership, a celebration of WRCDV’s expanding impact, and both live and online auctions—open to attendees and the wider community—featuring exclusive domestic and international travel packages. Tickets and auction access are available at: WRCDV.Givesmart.com.
"Southwire’s steadfast commitment has been transformative," said Jean Douglas, Executive Director of WRCDV. "Coupled with the critical expansion from our acquisition of Day League, we’re significantly enhancing our ability to offer holistic care and long-term healing to survivors across our region."
Funds raised will support WRCDV’s 24-hour hotlines, emergency shelter and housing programs, legal advocacy, supervised visitation services, youth prevention initiatives, support groups, and programs like Camp PEACE, a summer camp teaching resilience and peace-building to children impacted by domestic violence.
In 2024 alone, WRCDV provided emergency shelter to 150+ individuals, responded to nearly 6,000 crisis calls, offered legal assistance to over 5,600 survivors, and hosted 91 support groups. With the integration of Day League, WRCDV is now one of only four nonprofits in metro Atlanta offering sexual assault survivor services.
