The Atlanta Jazz Festival, Inc., one of the most esteemed cultural institutions in the country, proudly announces the appointment of Antwan Lang to its Board of Directors. Lang, a respected Atlanta business leader, public servant, and advocate for the arts, brings a wealth of experience in governance, community engagement, and strategic development.

Founded in 1978 by Mayor Maynard Jackson, the Atlanta Jazz Festival has long been a cultural beacon, showcasing the power and influence of jazz as America’s original art form. Over the decades, it has featured legendary artists such as Lionel Hampton, Dizzy Gillespie, Nina Simone, Ray Charles, Miles Davis, and Herbie Hancock. Today, it remains the largest free jazz festival in the nation, attracting over 200,000 attendees to Piedmont Park each Memorial Day weekend.

Lang’s appointment marks a significant addition to the festival’s leadership, reinforcing its commitment to growth, sustainability, and deeper community impact. With a long-standing appreciation for jazz and the arts, Lang has been a steadfast supporter of cultural initiatives that enrich Atlanta’s diverse artistic landscape. His leadership is expected to further strengthen the festival’s reach, ensuring it continues to be a world-class celebration of music, heritage, and artistic excellence.

“We are thrilled to welcome Antwan Lang to the Board,” said Newly appointed Board Chair George Matlock. “His leadership and dedication to community development align perfectly with the mission of the Atlanta Jazz Festival. His expertise will be invaluable as we continue to build upon our legacy and expand the festival’s impact.”

Lang’s influence in Atlanta’s business and civic communities makes his appointment a strategic move for the festival. A member of the 100 Black Men of Atlanta, Board member of the Thomas W. Dortch Foundation, and President & CEO of Atlantic South Group LLC, Lang further exhibits a dynamic leader with deep ties to both public and private sectors. His role on the board will help drive partnerships, innovation, and long-term sustainability for one of the city’s most treasured cultural events.

With this new leadership addition, the Atlanta Jazz Festival, Inc. is poised to elevate its mission, ensuring that jazz remains a vibrant and essential part of Atlanta’s cultural fabric for years to come.
