The new hires, David S. Moreland, Ashley West Thompson, and Devon Griger, bring a wealth of experience and expertise in their respective fields, further strengthening the firm's commitment to providing exceptional legal services.

David S. Moreland joins the Atlanta office as a partner-level Member in the firm. He is a seasoned commercial litigator with a focus on intellectual property litigation. With extensive experience in state, federal, and appellate courts, Moreland has successfully represented clients in complex disputes involving contracts, copyrights, patents, trademarks and trade secrets. His engineering background equips him to handle cases involving advanced technologies, including automotive technologies, cloud-based SaaS systems, and telecommunications protocols. Licensed to practice in Georgia, Moreland is also registered to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office, where he has assisted companies in protecting and monetizing their intellectual property, including through cases before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board and the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board. Since 2021, he has been selected to Best Lawyers in America for his intellectual property and patent litigation practice. Moreland is a fellow of the prestigious Litigation Counsel of America. He is a member of the Atlanta Bar Association, where he served as past director of the Intellectual Property section, and member/past local co-chair of the American Intellectual Property Law Association. Moreland holds a bachelor’s degree in engineering from Georgia Tech and a law degree from Georgia State University College of Law.

Ashley West Thompson joins the Chattanooga office as Of Counsel, concentrating her practice on civil litigation and appellate advocacy. With over 15 years of experience as an attorney for the federal government, Thompson has developed specialized expertise in appellate practice and a wide range of civil, commercial and criminal litigation. Her previous roles include serving as a staff attorney for the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 11th Circuit and as a law clerk for the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Tennessee. Thompson's strategic guidance and written advocacy have led to numerous victories in both federal and state appeals. She holds a bachelor's degree in accounting from the University of South Carolina and a law degree from Florida State University College of Law. Thompson is licensed to practice in both Tennessee and Georgia.

Devon Griger joins the Atlanta office as an associate attorney, primarily representing clients in the construction industry. Griger specializes in resolving disputes related to large construction and infrastructure projects, focusing on breach of contract, delay, disruption, and construction defect claims. Her experience includes high-stakes mediation and arbitration, as well as managing complex litigation matters from initial client interviews to settlement. Licensed to practice in both Georgia and Tennessee, Griger's skills in discovery and trial preparation make her a valuable asset to the firm's litigation practice. After graduating from the University of Georgia with a bachelor’s in journalism and public relations, Griger earned her law degree from Tulane University Law School and served as a law clerk for the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana. She is member of the Atlanta Bar Association’s Construction Section and Associated Builders & Contractors of Georgia.
