Sizemore Group is pleased to announce the appointment of Joel Helms, AIA, LEED AP BD+C, WELL AP as President. Helms, who leads the firm’s Asheville, N.C. team, has played a pivotal role in Sizemore Group’s national growth strategy, particularly in the Univer-Cities market. As part of this transition, Lily del Berrios will assume the role of President Emeritus.

“As managing partner, it is my pleasure to announce Joel as Sizemore Group’s new president. Having worked closely with Joel for more than 3 years, his alignment with our firm's core values coupled with his depth of market knowledge has been a tremendous asset to the firm,” said Bill de St. Aubin, CEO of Sizemore Group. “We are grateful for Lily’s leadership and the work she has done and will continue to do in her role as President Emeritus.”

Under Joel’s leadership, Sizemore Group has expanded their presence in North Carolina, supporting clients in many of the firm’s priority sectors,  including growth in the “Univer-City” market - the cross section of civic and education - where Joel has earned a reputation for thoughtful work with renowned institutions like Kennesaw State University, UNC Asheville, UNC Chapel Hill, and Western Carolina University. His expertise supports Sizemore Group’s position as a leader in educational design and planning and beyond.

“I am honored to build on multiple generations of Sizemore Group leadership,” said Joel Helms. “I look forward to continuing my collaboration with some of the region’s most esteemed colleagues and cherished institutions, and to leading the firm overall and in its expansion throughout my longtime home of North Carolina.”

An instrumental leader of the firm since joining the firm in 1988, Lily del Berrios has been elevated to the new position of President Emeritus. In this role, she will continue to serve as a valued client resource while mentoring the next generation of Sizemore Group leaders and supporting Joel in his transition.

“There is nothing more important to me than ensuring the continuity and success of our client relationships,” said Lily del Berrios. “I remain committed to fostering these partnerships and mentoring our talented professionals as they grow within the firm.”
