Portman Announces Elevated Indian Restaurant for Spring Quarter in Midtown

Staff Report From Georgia CEO

Thursday, May 15th, 2025

Portman today announces that Pataaka, a high-end, tapas-style Indian restaurant with a vibrant social vibe, will open at Spring Quarter, the premier mixed-use development transforming an entire city block in Midtown. Pataaka joins an impressive lineup of previously announced chef-driven concepts at Spring Quarter, including Sozou and Habaneros.

Pataaka will come to life at the ground floor of Sora, the luxury residential tower within Spring Quarter. The restaurant will feature up to 113 seats, an outdoor patio and a mezzanine space for private dining. The Johnson Studio at Cooper Carry is designing the restaurant. Pataaka’s culinary experience is led by Chef Anish Nair, a renowned Atlanta-based Indian chef.

Pataaka will be a stylish and high-energy dining experience where Indian culinary artistry meets global flair. The tapas-style menu features Indian classics and modern contemporaries, infused with global influences, including jackfruit bruschetta, tamarind BBQ lamb ribs, tandoori duck breast, sakura chicken and red snapper pollichattu. Pataaka is aiming to open later this year.

“At Pataaka, we’re not just creating food; we’re curating moments,” said Nair. “My journey from the refined kitchens of the Taj and Marriott to building my own culinary path in Atlanta — including Jai Ho — has helped me imbibe one truth: great food is a spark. It brings people together, opens up stories and turns a night out into something unforgettable. Pataaka is that spark: bold, beautiful and full of soul.”

Pataaka will join the incredible lineup of chef-driven concepts opening at Spring Quarter. Habaneros, a Louisiana-born contemporary Mexican concept, is opening at Spring Quarter this fall. Also located on Sora’s street level, Habaneros incorporates the distinctive flavors of Mexico City in its extensive menu, including birria tacos, a mexi-chicken sandwich, bravo shrimp and a signature burger, as well as a variety of handcrafted cocktails. Spring Quarter marks the restaurant's sixth location and first in Georgia.

Spring Quarter’s restaurant lineup also includes Sozou, a new concept from renowned Chef Fuyuhiko Ito that pushes the boundaries of contemporary Japanese cuisine. Opening this fall at the ground floor of Ten Twenty Spring, the mixed-use community’s premier office tower, Sozou will feature a main kitchen, robata grill and sushi counter, and serve the highest-quality ingredients from the world's finest fish markets. The team will also debut Omakase at ISHIN by Ito on the 8th-floor rooftop of Ten Twenty. Offering an intimate omakase dining experience at a 14-seat counter, private guests can enjoy Chef Ito’s masterful creations that celebrate the artistry of Japanese cuisine while taking in views of the Midtown skyline.

“We’ve been thoughtfully curating an incredible lineup of culinary experiences at Spring Quarter, all of which bring a creative and iconic twist to modern dining,” said Dotan Zuckerman, Portman’s Head of Retail Development. “With Pataaka onboard, we have a roster of iconic chef talent filling a much-needed gap for quality restaurants in the market. As we gear up to open Sozou and Habaneros in the coming months, we can’t wait to invite the community to eat, drink and gather at Spring Quarter.”

In addition to Sora and Ten Twenty, Spring Quarter is anchored by the historic H.M. Patterson Home and Gardens, which brings rich history, timeless architecture and lush gardens to the mixed-use campus. Portman is preserving and reimagining The Patterson into a dynamic retail and entertainment amenity for the community. To learn more about Spring Quarter, visit springquarter.com.

Also in Atlanta, Portman developed Junction Krog District, a 135,000-square-foot, Class-A office building with ground-floor retail fronting the Atlanta BeltLine. Yuji, a new Japanese concept by Kinjo Enterprise, LLC, and Brash Coffee Roasters recently opened at the project. Italian hospitality concept YEPPA&co will open in the coming weeks.
