Erica Rocker has been named Director of Economic Development for the City of Tucker, bringing over two decades of experience in economic and community development to one of Metro Atlanta’s most dynamic and growing cities. The announcement was made jointly by John McHenry, City Manager, and Frank Auman, Mayor of Tucker.
The Chason Group led the executive search for the City of Tucker.
Rocker, who most recently served as Economic Development Officer for the Clayton County Board of Commissioners, has earned a reputation as a strategic thinker, passionate communicator, and innovative leader. Her experience spans public-private partnerships, workforce development, small business growth, and large-scale investment initiatives throughout the metro region.
“Erica brings a high level of energy, professionalism, and deep industry knowledge
to this role,” said McHenry. “Her background in leading economic development at the
municipal and county levels gives her a strong foundation to help Tucker continue growing our business community in a way that aligns with the values of our residents.”
During her career, Rocker has held leadership positions with the Development Authority of Clayton County, City of Sandy Springs, City of College Park, and City of East Point. She was appointed in 2023 by Georgia Governor Brian Kemp to the Stone Mountain Memorial Association Board of Directors— becoming the first African American woman to serve on the board since its founding in 1958.
“Erica’s passion for building relationships and executing on a shared vision of growth makes her an excellent fit for Tucker,” said Mayor Auman, “She has a heart for community and understands how to connect stakeholders to create meaningful economic opportunities.”
In her new role, Rocker will lead the implementation of Tucker’s Economic Development Strategic Plan, serve as the city’s primary liaison to the Tucker Downtown Development Authority (TDA), and collaborate with key partners across the region to attract and retain businesses. She will also represent the City of Tucker at business development events, workforce initiatives, and regional economic forums.
“I am honored to join the City of Tucker and contribute to a vibrant, inclusive, and forward-thinking economic development vision,” said Rocker. “Tucker’s leadership and business community have already built something special, and I look forward to working collaboratively to contribute to that momentum.”
A graduate of Emory University, Rocker holds a Bachelor of Science in Psychology with a minor in English. She is a graduate of the University of Oklahoma’s Economic Development Institute and the Georgia Academy for Economic Development. She is also an active member of the International Economic Development Council (IEDC), the Georgia Economic Developers Association (GEDA), and several civic organizations.
