Atlanta Housing (AH) today announced the departure of Dr. Alan Ferguson, Sr., who has served as Chief Housing and Real Estate Officer (CHREO) since joining the agency on June 3, 2024.

As a key member of President and CEO Terri M. Lee’s executive leadership team, Dr. Ferguson provided strategic oversight of the agency’s real estate development pipeline and Housing Choice Voucher Program (HCVP). His leadership helped stabilize Atlanta Housing’s housing operations during a pivotal period of agency growth.

“Dr. Ferguson has been a critical part of Atlanta Housing’s progress this past year,” said President and CEO Terri M. Lee. “His deep expertise and leadership helped us stay focused on the fundamentals –executing deals and creating housing opportunities. We are grateful for his impact and wish him continued success in his next chapter.”

Reflecting on his time with the agency, Dr. Ferguson added: “It has been a privilege to serve Atlanta Housing and support the agency’s mission to create strong communities and expand access to affordable housing. I’m incredibly proud of we accomplished together, and I am confident AH will continue delivering results for the people of Atlanta.”

During his tenure, Dr. Ferguson achieved the following milestones:

·       Advanced 44% of AH’s “25 for FY25” Strategic Development Targets by successfully closing 11 key transactions and securing an additional 11 for FY26.

·       Pioneered scalable housing models, including the closing of The Proctor, a first-of-its-kind project funded without Low-Income Housing Tax Credits.

·       Advanced major development and construction milestones at properties such as Bowen Homes, Herndon Square, Englewood, Sylvan Hills, and Heritage Village.

·       Represented AH on the City of Atlanta Housing Commission and the Centennial Academy Board, reinforcing AH’s cross-sector leadership.

Maya Hodari, Senior Vice President of Real Estate, will serve as Interim Chief Real Estate Officer. A seasoned real estate executive with more than 25 years of housing experience, Hodari has played a pivotal role in managing AH’s real estate strategy, leading the execution of key development transactions across the portfolio. She joined Atlanta Housing in 2022 following nearly three decades with two other public housing authorities and was named a HUD Fellow in 2001.
