Atlanta Reports Safe Fourth of July Weekend While Hosting Events Large and Small Across City
Tuesday, July 8th, 2025
The City of Atlanta has recently hosted approximately 300,000 visitors in addition to our residents for a safe, successful and event-filled Fourth of July weekend.
More than 52,000 individuals participated in the AJC Peachtree Road Race. This number excludes spectators and staff, and the race was held start to finish without any major incident.
Saturday’s FIFA Club World Cup 2025 quarterfinal match between Paris Saint-Germain F.C. and FC Bayern Munich at Mercedes-Benz Stadium saw 66,937 attendees. The combined attendance of all six FIFA Club World Cup 2025 matches held at MBS was approximately 258,265—all matches were hosted without any major incident, thanks to Atlanta Police Department, Atlanta Fire Rescue, E-911, Atlanta Department of Transportation, Department of Public Works and collaboration with Grady Health Systems, security teams at the Georgia World Congress Center and MBS, as well as public safety officials at the federal, state and local levels.
“We often say ‘Atlanta does big very well’ and we have that track record due to collaboration and communication in the larger group project—both within City Departments and with our partner agencies, whether in the private or public sectors,” said Atlanta Mayor Andre Dickens. “It is also important to note that we hosted these large events all the while keeping the rest of our city safe with few violent or critical incidents over a major weekend.”
Even with an extraordinarily busy weekend, Atlanta’s E-911 center delivered phenomenal answer times:
July 4th – 3,321 calls answered within an average of 2.47 seconds.
July 5th – 3,233 calls answered within an average of 1.35 seconds.
July 6th – 2,949 calls answered within an average of 0.42 seconds.
