KIPP Atlanta Schools, a network of 11 tuition-free, public charter schools serving scholars in kindergarten through 12th grade in Atlanta and East Point, today announced it has received a $35,000 contribution from Delta Air Lines. Funds from the donation will help provide postsecondary support, career preparation and entrepreneurial training and a platform to showcase the academic talents of all KIPP Atlanta scholars.
“This generous donation from Delta Air Lines strengthens our ability to empower scholars with the tools and resources they need to succeed in the classroom, thrive in college and build meaningful careers,” said Torrey Bates, KIPP Atlanta Schools managing director of advancement. “By continuing to invest in our scholars, Delta is helping equip the next generation of leaders with opportunities to excel academically, develop professionally and successfully pursue their dreams.”
The donation will directly support two key programs at KIPP Atlanta Schools. KIPP Forward helps students prepare for success after graduation through postsecondary planning resources, job shadowing opportunities with local businesses and hands-on entrepreneurship training based on their interests and passions. The program also provides early planning support for families of primary through high school scholars, including financial guidance for college. Currently, KIPP Forward supports more than 2,000 alumni navigating college and career pathways.
Best of KIPP showcases the extraordinary talents of KIPP students through academic competitions, performing arts events and global immersion opportunities, including a global immersion experience to Nairobi, Kenya. Together, these programs prepare scholars for long-term success while celebrating each student’s unique potential.
Delta Air Lines has been a partner of KIPP Atlanta Schools since 2015, supporting scholars during their time at KIPP and after graduation. The airline has selected students for its Summer Aviation Program, opening doors to future careers in aviation and beyond. Delta has also served as the presenting sponsor of KIPP’s annual Night of Impact, helping raise over $1 million to support vital programs for scholars.
“Partnering with KIPP Atlanta Schools and more than 100 other educational organizations worldwide, Delta is passionate about connecting tomorrow's employees, customers and communities with the skills and experiences they need to take on the world with purpose,” said Tad Hutcheson, managing director of community engagement, Delta Air Lines. “KIPP's work to enhance educational opportunities for students of all backgrounds is an important part of our commitment to advancing education in the communities where we live, work and serve.”
