Junior League of Dekalb County Announces Board
Tuesday, August 26th, 2025
The Junior League of DeKalb County, Inc. has announced its 2025–2026 Board of Directors, a dynamic group of women leaders committed to promoting voluntarism, advancing women’s leadership, and improving communities through the effective action of trained volunteers. This year, the League is led by its 88th President, Aprille Blair Moore, a seasoned community advocate and servant leader with deep roots in DeKalb County.
The Junior League of DeKalb County (JLD) will focus on three critical areas impacting the community: the wellness of women and adolescent girls, maternal health, and mental health. These focus areas are not only timely but necessary. Guided by President Moore’s leadership, this year’s theme, I.G.N.I.T.E. Women: Inspiring Growth, Nurturing Impact, Training Empowered Women, reflects the League's commitment to connecting its members to the community, strengthening partnerships, and equipping women to lead.
“As we begin this League year, our call to action is clear,” said President Moore. “We must lead with our mission first, partner with intention, and prepare our members to IGNITE change in themselves, in the League, and in the community. IGNITE Women is not just a theme, it is a mindset that reflects how we will elevate and empower one another while doing the work in DeKalb County that matters.”
Last year, JLD had a record year of impact that included:
-
Established the Elizabeth Andrews Professional Closet, where professional attire and confidence-building resources were provided to young women pursuing employment opportunities.
-
Built a partnership with two local high schools to create a personal hygiene closet supported by donations from League members and community partners.
-
Announced a strategic partnership with Commissioner Michelle Long Spears to create the DeKalb County Women’s Commission.
-
Committed $10,000 to expand mental health programs and services in five DeKalb County Schools.
The 2025–2026 Board of Directors brings together a diverse team of professionals and community leaders dedicated to enhancing member engagement, growing League membership, and expanding the League’s community impact through strategic partnerships, advocacy, and leadership development.
