Aaron Szarowicz has been named Economic Development Director for the City of Brookhaven, bringing nearly a decade of experience in local government, site selection strategy, and business attraction to the role. The announcement was made by Brookhaven City Manager Christian Sigman following a competitive nationwide executive search.

The Chason Group (www.thechasongroup.com) led the executiv search for the city. Szarowicz most recently served as Senior Project Manager of Business Attraction at Invest Atlanta, where he led a project pipeline of nearly 80 initiatives, administered state and local incentive programs, and helped secure over $223 million in capital investment and nearly 5,000 new jobs in Atlanta between 2023 and 2025. He is recognized for developing data-informed economic solutions, strategic partnerships, and creative tools to streamline incentive modeling and community engagement.

“Aaron brings a strong blend of strategy, innovation, and execution,” said Sigman. “He understands the complexity of urban development, the importance of local relationships, and the role of economic strategy in building a thriving community.”

Prior to Invest Atlanta, Szarowicz advanced through the ranks at the City of Douglasville, Georgia — from ICMA Fellow to Economic Development Manager — overseeing the Downtown Development Authority, managing capital projects totaling over $34 million, and launching award-winning redevelopment initiatives such as the Old Mill Project. Known for his high-level communication skills, he also produced speeches, press releases, and briefings for elected officials that contributed to a 95% approval rating for the city’s economic development efforts.
