The Atlanta Hawks today announced a series of hires and promotions in its basketball operations group. In the front office, Brittni Donaldson has been named director of basketball development, methodology, and integration, while Mychel Thompson has been hired as a pro scout. On the player health & performance team, Calvin Torres has joined the organization as head of sports science, Dan Warnke as head of performance, and Gordon Jeter as assistant strength coach, while Rich McLoughlin has been promoted to assistant strength coach.
Donaldson was the first female assistant coach in Hawks franchise history, serving in that role from 2023-25. She came to the Hawks from the Detroit Pistons, where she was assistant coach/director of coaching analytics. Formerly an assistant coach with the Toronto Raptors from 2019-21 after two seasons as the club’s data analyst, basketball operations, she was part of the Raptors’ NBA championship team in 2019. A native of Sioux City, Iowa, Donaldson played four seasons at University of Northern Iowa, where she graduated with a degree in statistics and actuarial science.
Thompson was previously video coordinator and player development coach with the Golden State Warriors. He played 206 games in the NBA G League, with the Erie BayHawks, Sioux Falls Skyforce and Santa Cruz Warriors, and spent time internationally with Pallacanestro Varese (Italy). The Los Angeles native played collegiately at Pepperdine, finishing amongst the career leaders in scoring, three-pointers made and games played. Thompson has also played, and currently is on the coaching staff, for the Bahamas Men’s National Team.
Torres is a performance science leader with over 15 years of experience in elite sports and wearable technology. His experience includes working with NBA and NCAA basketball teams at Catapult Sports, where he spent a decade, as well as roles with the British Olympic Association and the University of California, Berkeley, where he established the sports science department. Torres holds a Master's degree in Performance Analysis from Middlesex University.
Warnke spent the last seven seasons with the Philadelphia Flyers, where he served as head strength & conditioning coach. Previously, Warnke was head strength & conditioning coach of the Lehigh Valley Phantoms, the Flyers’ AHL affiliate. He also spent time at the University of Minnesota as assistant director of strength and conditioning. Warnke owns a Master of Science from California University of Pennsylvania and earned his Bachelor’s in Exercise Science from the University of Wisconsin - Superior.
Jeter joins the Hawks following four years at Georgetown University, where he finished as women’s basketball performance coach. He has prior experience with D1 Training as head speed and strength coach and Chesapeake College as an assistant men’s basketball coach, following internships with University of Texas at Austin, Salisbury University, and The George Washington University. He is a graduate of Salisbury University with a Bachelor’s in Exercise Science and earned a Master’s in Exercise Science-Strength and Conditioning from The George Washington University.
McLoughlin was previously the strength & conditioning coach for the College Park Skyhawks for the last three seasons. He’s also spent time at Georgia Southern University, the University of Dayton, and Stanford University as a strength and conditioning coach working with both the men’s and women’s basketball teams. He’s a two-time graduate of the University of Dayton, earning his Bachelor’s in Exercise Science in 2014 before obtaining his Master’s in Educational Leadership in 2020. McLoughlin and his wife, Katie, are natives of the northwest suburbs of Chicago.
