Gwinnett County To Host Jimmy Carter Day Honoring The Legacy Of The 39th President

At the direction of Chairwoman Nicole Love Hendrickson, Gwinnett County will host the first-ever Jimmy Carter Day, honoring the life and legacy of President Jimmy Carter. The event will feature:

A ceremony at Best Friend Park including a special presentation to the Carter family.

The unveiling of a new public art installation in partnership with Gateway85 CID.

Recognition of GCPS student winners from the Jimmy Carter Legacy Art and Essay Contest.

A Gwinnett Habitat for Humanity build day honoring Carter’s lifelong commitment to service.

The lighting of the Gwinnett Justice and Administration Center in blue and white, coinciding with a symbolic blue light along the Jimmy Carter Boulevard bridge.

Morning ceremony | Wednesday, Oct. 1, 10 a.m. – 11 a.m. (Arrival is suggested by 9:30 a.m.)

Habitat for Humanity build day | This project will coincide with the ceremony; additional volunteers will ride a bus to the site after the unveiling (media coordinated on site).

GJAC lighting | Oct. 1 – Oct. 4, 6:30 p.m. – 7 a.m.
