Hoar Construction Hires Construction Veteran to Lead Atlanta Market Growth
Tuesday, September 16th, 2025
Hoar Construction announced today it has hired local construction veteran Jimmy Kennedy to lead its Atlanta Division as vice president. With over 24 years of experience in the industry, Kennedy will lead new business initiatives and work to grow Hoar’s employee base in Atlanta while pursuing projects across the state.
Kennedy began his career at Batson-Cook Construction, where he spent over two decades working for the Georgia-based company. Beginning as an intern in 2001, he steadily rose through the ranks to become a project manager, project executive and most recently served as vice president and business unit leader. This is where Kennedy honed his passion and craft for construction, working on major projects across the Southeast including several healthcare initiatives for Northside Hospital and the 54-floor 550 South Tryon (formerly Duke Energy Center) in Charlotte, North Carolina. Most recently, Kennedy worked on a 15-story expansion at Northside Hospital-Gwinnett.
“Atlanta is a market full of opportunity, and I see incredible potential for Hoar to make a lasting impact here,” said Kennedy. “My vision is to build an office where people feel supported, valued and excited to put their best foot forward to continue Hoar’s legacy in the market. At the same time, I look forward to becoming more connected to the community and building relationships at organizations that will positively advance our people, clients and partners. I cannot wait to see where our Atlanta Division is a year from now.”
Kennedy’s focus will be on recruiting new talent in Atlanta, while helping grow and shape the next generation of builders through workforce development initiatives. He will also work to build Hoar’s presence in key sectors, including healthcare, higher education, K-12, private commercial and mixed-use developments. Drawing on his extensive background in healthcare construction, he will lead client pursuits, strengthen market relationships and also serve as a representative of Hoar for community organizations including the Cobb Chamber of Commerce and Associated General Contractors of Georgia
“Jimmy embodies Hoar’s core values and entrepreneurial spirit, and we’re excited to see him lead our Atlanta team into this next chapter of growth,” said Turner Burton, president of Hoar.“ He not only brings a wealth of experience in large-scale projects, but also a sense of leadership that we need to continue bolstering Hoar’s presence in Georgia. His unwavering passion for people and community is exactly what we were looking for, and we know he will excel at further positioning Hoar as a go-to source for high quality construction services in Atlanta and beyond.”
Hoar has been in the Atlanta market since 2010, moved into an expanded office in 2019, and has completed nearly half a billion dollars in projects across the state as of 2025. Recent projects Hoar has completed in Georgia include the 62,000-square-foot Northeast Georgia Rehabilitation Institute in Gainesville, the 134,000-square-foot expansion of the Women’s and Children’s Center and new Emergency Department Tower at South Georgia Medical Center in Valdosta, the redevelopment of Colony Square in Midtown Atlanta and the two-building, 519,424-square-foot student housing development, Inspire, for Georgia Tech students. Hoar is also leading construction on the new mixed-use community Medley in Johns Creek.
