Westside Park Race to Raise Funds for Single Parents in Atlanta
Monday, September 22nd, 2025
Atlanta runners will have a new reason to lace up this fall: the 2025 Westside Park Run, taking place next Saturday, September 27 at Westside Park, will feature both a 5K and 10K course through the scenic trails of Proctor Creek and West Highlands in support of a powerful cause.
Organized by H.O.P.E. Inc., a nonprofit that helps low-income single parents earn college degrees, the Westside Park Run is the next evolution of its 10-year legacy fundraiser, formerly known as the Deon Lewis Memorial Hope Run.
The event is now produced in partnership with Horizon Race Solutions and features Atlanta’s only 10K held entirely within Westside Park, a USATF certified course and Peachtree Qualifier.
“Every runner who crosses that finish line is bringing H.O.P.E. to someone who may have once felt hopeless,” said Kenita Smith, founder and executive director of H.O.P.E. Inc. “This race is about more than fitness, it’s about changing lives, families, and futures.”
Funds raised from race registrations and sponsorships will benefit H.O.P.E. Inc.’s year-round support programs for single parents pursuing higher education. Since its founding, H.O.P.E. has helped 100 parents graduate from college, 50% of whom were first-generation graduates, impacting the lives of over 272 children in the Atlanta area.
“What we offer isn’t a handout, it’s a hand up,” said Smith. “We believe education lifts entire families and communities.”
