The Mimms Museum of Technology and Art (Mimms Museum), a nonprofit metro Atlanta attraction that is home to one of the world’s largest collections of digital-era artifacts and rotating art exhibits, today announced the appointment of Thomas Paterson as membership and development coordinator. Effective immediately, Paterson will support membership growth for the museum, cultivating partner relationships and engaging experiences to support its overall mission.

“Thomas is passionate about both membership engagement and community connection, which is exciting for us as we prepare for an exciting year ahead,” said Rena Youngblood, executive director of Mimms Museum. “With iNSPIRE: Fifty Years of Innovation from Apple on the horizon, the energy and collaborative approach Thomas will bring to this role is sure to help strengthen the partnerships that make these landmark projects possible.”

Paterson will assist with the museum’s membership and development initiatives, including individual and corporate membership programs, grant management and community partnerships. He will focus on strengthening member engagement and expanding the museum’s relationships within Roswell’s vibrant business community through sponsorships, volunteering and special events.

Before joining the Mimms Museum team, Paterson served as the development communications coordinator at the Cherokee County History Center, where he managed donor databases, assisted with fundraising events and helped grow the organization’s membership by 30 percent through consistent communication and recurring programming. Since 2020, Paterson has helped lead fundraising efforts for the Suthers Center Food Pantry’s Hunger Walk, raising enough funds to feed nearly 30,000 people through the Atlanta Community Food Bank.

A lifelong Georgia resident, Paterson holds a bachelor’s and a master’s degree in history from Georgia State University. While in school, he gained hands-on experience in artifact interpretation and narrative development for diverse audiences through an internship with Kennesaw State University’s Museum of History and Holocaust Education. Paterson actively supports Georgia’s museum community, having served as a grant reviewer for Georgia Humanities and as a communications committee volunteer with the Georgia Association of Museums. His passion for technology stems from his personal hobbies, including music production, graphic design and gaming. In his free time, he enjoys reading, exercising and volunteering at the Suthers Center Food Pantry in Brookhaven.
