Midtown Assistance Center Announces First-Ever Big MAC Bash Celebrating 40 Years of Impact

Staff Report From Georgia CEO

Tuesday, January 27th, 2026

For 40 years, the Midtown Assistance Center (MAC) has been a lifeline for hardworking Atlantans, helping families avoid eviction, keep the lights on, and put food on the table during times of crisis. To mark this milestone anniversary, MAC is bringing the community together like never before with its first-ever Big MAC Bash, a joyful celebration of neighborhoods, people, and hope. The Big MAC Bash will take place on Saturday, February 28, 2026, at The Temple in Midtown Atlanta.

A Night Rooted in Community

The Big MAC Bash will spotlight the many Atlanta zip codes MAC serves through creative food stations featuring burgers, tots, and local favorites inspired by neighborhoods across the service area. Guests are encouraged to embrace dressy casual attire with a fun twist—the bolder and bigger, the better.

Adding to the excitement, the evening will feature a special performance by the acclaimed Joe Alterman Trio. Known for their soulful, joyful sound and dynamic performances, the Trio has captivated audiences nationwide. Joe Alterman—well known to Atlanta listeners as the host of The Upside of Jazz on WABE—has shared the stage with jazz legends and performed at major venues across the country. Their music will set the perfect tone for a celebratory, spirited night. To purchase tickets, visit: The Big MAC Bash – Midtown Assistance Center

Honoring Leadership, Celebrating Legacy

The evening will also honor Dorothy Deakins Chandler, MAC’s Director Emeritus, for her two decades of transformational leadership and tireless advocacy. Ms. Chandler joined MAC as Assistant Director in 1994, stepped into the Executive Director role in 1997, and led the organization through 2018, when Jenny Jobson assumed leadership. Under Dorothy’s guidance, MAC expanded its reach and deepened its impact—helping thousands of neighbors weather financial crises with dignity and stability.

Event Leadership

The Big MAC Bash is co-chaired by Kristin Ramsey Clyde and Dabney Hollis, whose leadership and passion for Midtown and its residents are helping shape a night to remember.

This is more than a party—it’s a chance to fuel the next 40 years of hope. Each year, MAC’s rent, utility, and food assistance helps prevent homelessness and hunger for low-income working families across Midtown and surrounding neighborhoods.
