Agnes Scott College has been named a Fulbright Top Producing Institution, recognized for having one of the highest numbers of students and recent alumnae selected for the Fulbright U.S. Student Program for the 2025-26 academic year.

Five Agnes Scott students were selected for Fulbright awards for 2025–26, marking one of the strongest Fulbright cohorts in recent years for an institution of the college’s size. The designation reflects Agnes Scott’s longstanding commitment to global learning, academic excellence and robust mentorship for students pursuing competitive international fellowships.

The Fulbright Program, established in 1946, is the U.S. government’s flagship international academic exchange initiative.  Each year, it provides opportunities for exceptional students, scholars and professionals from the United States and more than 160 countries to study, teach and conduct research abroad, advancing knowledge, science and industry through international exchange and collaboration.  Fulbright Alumni include leaders across government, business, science, technology, research, education and the arts, as well as 44 heads of state or government, 63 Nobel Laureates and 93 Pulitzer Prize winners

“When our students step into the world through opportunities like Fulbright, they carry with them the values and heart of an Agnes Scott education: curiosity, compassion and a commitment to making a difference in the world,” said Leocadia I. Zak, president of Agnes Scott College. “When Scotties engage with the world through Fulbright, they return with experiences that deepen our nation’s cultural understanding and inspire others to pursue learning across borders. We are incredibly proud of their accomplishments, and we are grateful for the faculty and staff whose guidance and encouragement helps every student thrive.”

Agnes Scott College actively fosters Fulbright participation by integrating global learning into its SUMMIT curriculum. Global learning and leadership development are central pillars of the Agnes Scott undergraduate experience. Students participate in Global Journeys in their first year and complete global breadth courses as part of the core curriculum, preparing them to engage thoughtfully and ethically with communities around the world.

“Agnes Scott’s recognition as a Fulbright Top Producing Institution reflects the depth of our academic rigor and the global mindset students develop here,” said Dr. Rachel Bowser, vice president for academic affairs and dean of the college. “Our students and our graduates have the ambition and the preparation to flourish in programs like the Fulbright.”

“Fulbright opens possibilities our students may not have imagined at the start of their college journey,” said Dr. Seretha Williams, Fulbright Program Advisor and Associate Dean for Undergraduate Studies. “It expands their sense of what’s possible, building confidence, inner strength and a deeper appreciation for peers and communities across the world.”

Fulbright is a program of the U.S. Department of State, with funding provided by the U.S. government. Participating governments and partner institutions, corporations and foundations around the world also provide direct and indirect support to the program.
