Atlanta Public Schools Announces Inaugural Leadership APS Cohort
Thursday, February 12th, 2026
Atlanta Public Schools (APS) proudly announces the launch of Leadership APS, a new community leadership program designed to deepen partnerships, strengthen civic engagement, and build shared ownership for the future of public education in Atlanta.
The inaugural Leadership APS 2026 Cohort brings together a distinguished group of leaders from across business, healthcare, nonprofit, public safety, athletics, and corporate sectors. As the first participants in this program, cohort members will engage directly with APS leaders, schools, and communities to gain an inside look at the district’s mission, opportunities, and challenges—and to contribute their expertise in support of student success.
“Leadership APS was created to foster meaningful collaboration between Atlanta Public Schools and the broader community,” said Dr. Bryan Johnson, Superintendent of Atlanta Public Schools. “This inaugural cohort represents a powerful cross-section of leaders who are committed to service, collaboration, and impact. Together, we are building students to succeed in college, career, and life.”
Leadership APS is designed as a two-way learning experience grounded in trust, transparency, and civic responsibility. Participants will explore classroom instruction, district operations, and strategic initiatives while also sharing insights and perspectives from their respective sectors. The program reflects APS’s belief that strong schools are foundational to a strong Atlanta.
The Leadership APS 2026 Inaugural Cohort includes leaders from organizations such as AndMore, Piedmont Atlanta Hospital, The Literacy Lab, Fulton County Sheriff’s Office, YMCA of Metro Atlanta, Atlanta Hawks, Google, L.E.A.D. Center for Youth, AMB Sports and Entertainment, and Peach State Federal Credit Union, among others. Several cohort members are also proud APS alumni, further strengthening the connection between the district and the city it serves.
By launching Leadership APS, Atlanta Public Schools continues its commitment to intentional community engagement, civic leadership development, and long-term partnerships that support students, families, and neighborhoods across Atlanta.
