The Henry County Chamber of Commerce proudly announced Chandler Lewis
and Sarah Grace Gilreath as the recipients of the 2026 Scholarship for Young Women, each receiving a $1,000 scholarship, during the Eighth Annual Women’s EmPOWERment Summit held March 5 at the Merle Manders Conference Center in Stockbridge.

The scholarships were presented before an audience of business leaders, entrepreneurs, and community members attending the Summit, a signature leadership event organized by the Chamber’s Women’s Leadership Council to inspire and support women leaders while investing in the next generation.

“The Scholarship for Young Women recognizes exceptional graduating high school seniors who demonstrate academic achievement, leadership, community involvement, and a vision for making a meaningful impact in their communities,” noted Joseph B. Henning, President and CEO of the Henry County Chamber of Commerce.

Chandler Lewis

Lewis plans to attend Spelman College in Atlanta, where she intends to major in International Business or International Relations with a minor in Art History. Her academic interests reflect a desire to engage with the global community and explore the connections between culture, economics, and international collaboration.
In her scholarship application and video presentation produced for the Summit, Lewis reflected on the importance of resilience, education, and leadership in creating opportunities for young women to influence positive change.

Sarah Grace Gilreath

Sarah Grace Gilreath, a senior at Strong Rock Christian School in Locust Grove, Georgia, was selected for her academic excellence, leadership, and dedication to serving others.

Gilreath has been accepted to the University of Mississippi (Ole Miss) and is also awaiting a final admissions decision from the University of Georgia. She plans to pursue a degree in Early Childhood Education, reflecting her passion for helping young learners grow and thrive. Through her scholarship essay and video presentation, Gilreath shared her commitment to making a meaningful difference in the lives of children and families through education, compassion, and service.

Investing in the Next Generation of Women Leaders

The scholarships are administered through the Women’s Leadership Council of the Henry County Chamber of Commerce, which established the program to encourage young women pursuing higher education and leadership pathways.

“Recognizing these remarkable young women is one of the most meaningful moments of the Women’s EmPOWERment Summit,” said Barbara Ingram, Director of Communication for the Chamber who serves as the liaison for the Women’s Leadership Council. “Their achievements, determination, and vision for the future represent the very spirit of empowerment that this event celebrates.”

The Women’s EmPOWERment Summit brings together professional women, entrepreneurs, and community leaders for a day of inspiration, networking, and leadership development. The 2026 Summit featured keynote presentations, the POWER Panel, the EmPOWERher EXPO, and the presentation of the Scholarship for Young Women. The Henry County Chamber congratulates Chandler Lewis and Sarah Grace Gilreath and looks forward to the impact they will make as they continue their educational and leadership journeys.
