Fulton County Applications for the 2026-2027 Youth Commission Now Open

Fulton County is looking for youth interested in serving in leadership roles. The 2026-2027 application process for the Fulton County Youth Commission is now underway.

The Department of Community Development is seeking high school students in grades 9 - 11 to participate in the program for the 2026-2027 academic year. The application deadline is 5:30 p.m. on Friday, May 22, 2026.

The Fulton County Youth Commission (FCYC) is a leadership program for outstanding high school students in Fulton County, Georgia, whose primary purpose is to advocate for children and youth issues. FCYC encourages tomorrow’s leaders to get involved today. FCYC leaders receive ongoing opportunities to address the many issues presently facing youth.

Youth Commissioners volunteer as many as 20 hours per month for planning meetings and community projects and over 120 hours annually. FCYC strengthens the participant’s leadership skills, increases interest in human services, and creates a means for communication between community leaders and youth in Fulton County. Responsibilities of the 31 Youth Commissioners include volunteer projects, serving as liaisons to youth, and helping local government understand the issues that impact young people.

For consideration, students:

  • Must be a resident of Fulton County
  • Must attend a school within Fulton County (Public, Private, and Charter)
  • Must be in the 9th -11th grade during the 2026-2027 academic year
  • Must submit a completed application and a two-page essay
